anyone ever done a trunk mod like this? (not flip trunk mod)
so heres the deal. I used to have a 96 jetta, until one unfortunate rainy march '02, i totaled it. so anyways, i was thinkin today, about how the trunks were on the jetta i used to own, and if there is someway i could do it on my accord, cuz i dont like my trunk falling and hitting my head when its open.
i was wondering if there was someway, or if someone has, put hydraulics on their trunk, like the jettas have. its really a nice feature, as the trunk doesn't fall on ur head.
here is a pic for you to visualize. i put red box's around what i'm talkin about.
i dunno, i just think it would be a good mod to do, if it is even possible.
TIA

its quite simple,,,mount a eye bolt on the roof, and one in the trunk lid. when ever you have the trunk up,, use a bungi cord to secure the lid.
Either that or replace the those spring things under the dash

i'd have to say no on the eyebolt thing, i dont want my car to look ghetto. as for replacing the springs....do you mean in the trunk? i dont think theres any springs under the dash that keep the trunk up.

on some cars you can adjust them by moving the end to another slot in the bracket. worst case you can replace them, they should be relatively cheap.
but the eyebolt-bungi cord ideal is always on the table

I was thinking either those or finding a way to use the ones for the hatches. I'm sure it can be easily done.

5th gen are like that, at least mine is, and IMHO the 5th gen has a very ingenious design cuz it kinda push the trunk to the back so you can have a bigger opening of the trunk.
Go check a 5th gen and maybe the linkage/hydraulics can be transfer to your accord (which i asume is a 4th gen
