I'm building a civic from the ground and I nead advice on everything.
I am trying to choose between parts. b18c5 or spoon b18? Possibly an h22a? Is spoon stuff worth the price. I want to focus on hanling after power so I am looking for advice on suspension as well. I have the funding to use top end parts, but I have done a lot of research and can't come to a decision. I am also looking for a shop to handle the job.
You should always include more info when asking questions like this. Do you want boost or all motor. Auto-cross or drag racing? Daily driver? What is your budget?
After Suspension, replace the Brakes with something alot better than stock Honda. The ability to go fast is garbage if you don't have the ability to stop should something happen.
good luck on the project and keep us posted with the progress

Then he might as well invest in a quality driving school because the ability to go fast is garbage if he can't counter for a spin, maximize exit speeds, pick the apex line, etc. Which is why my bro and I are going to enroll in the Skip Barber 3-day Racing School. Too many people who think they're fast when they're not. If you want all-out power, swap in a H22A and boost it. Damn, that would be so much fun.

Why not mod the D series,, if its handeling he is concerned with,, then the lighter front end would benifit him greatly. that and its hella cool to see a D series lope when it idles
Thanks for all the info. The car will be a track car, but has to be street legal for the weekends. I have about a $15g budget to start with, and depending on my results I may have more. I am defenitly staying n/a. I planned on starting with breaks and suspension, but I am trying to get an overall picture of what I want first. I live in the N.VA area.

Supercharged B18C5 for autocross with a five-lug swap and JIC magic coilovers. SSR rear sway/tiebar combo, Mugen upper strutbars front and rear, slicks on the front, something else on the back. That's just me, anyway.

why do you want a spoon engine? TOOLS
All it is is a fuggin loosely built engine. Everyone wants one! **** Im going to start building them and make the customer wait a year after they order it to get it so people will think its a badass engine.

ok, spoon motors are a waste of money... they are designed for road course racing(which is good in your case), but all they are are stock components that have been balanced to within .1g ... IMO, it's not worth the money. build up a B18c1... that will give you plenty of power, and be decent on the budget.
eg would be the car to get then I would reccomend suspension (tein) then brakes not too big ifyou are going to be using slicks every so often...anything other than stock. (B18C5 with a 15g budget) all motor is the way to go, unless you are really crazy like those of us who use acceleration like crack... H22 is king
