Squeaking sound from my clutch
Whenever i push in my clutch there is a squeaking sound that comes from the pedal. I only hear it when my car is at a stand still or moving very slowly. The transmission still shifts fine. The reason why i am concerned is because my friend told me that the squeaking sound is my clutch master cylnder going bye bye. Is he wrong or is it true?
i just had my master clutch cylinder replaced because of a popping/squeak i felt against the pedal everytime i pressed it. my car was done under warranty, i dunno about you, but you'd better get it checked out.
He is most probably right. What happens is the clutch master cylinder blows a seal or something somewhere and leaks brake fluid down the inside of the fire wall, getting on the action (excuse my laymans terms) of the clutch pedal. This causes it to squeek. It is annoying. An obvoious way to verify this is to check the carpet directly below the clutch for brake fluid. I wouldn't worry about it untill the clutch starts feeling really soft and you have a hard time getting it into gear. Then the it will definitely be on its final legs.
