I would advice all of you to do this...

your power lock switch on your driver door... take your door panel off and disable it.

Why.

If you are a conservitave like me and dont have an alarm on your car because you really dont care if it gets stolen being you got great insurance and your car is worth 18 grand(si) and 24 grand new(itr)

I had my **** parked in front of my house and i go to bed like at 3am, about 4-5 am in the morning they break into the car, but they didnt break any glass or nothing they took a screwdriver and stuck it in the rubber between the window and the glass on the driver side, and got thier hands in the window, pulled it out far enough to where they hooked it onto that little black triangle thing thats on your door pillar, and slid something down in the car and opened my doors with the power door lock switch...

they were in the car for a good hour and i suspect it to be my neigboors too ************* stole my girlfriends wallet, which had her licence, one of my credit cards and her atm card, and her SOCIAL ****** SECURITY CARD which she only had cause she had orientation this monday at bank of america... this happened last weekend on the 15th.

They mainly were after my pioneed dehp8000r which I ripped the buttons off so you had to use the remote for it to function.(personal reasons I hate people poking at my godamn stereo)

well i had the radio screwed into the console frame so you have to take apart the center console starting from the armrest forth, and remove the glovebox to get the console out so you can take the screwes out of the radio... they didnt figure that out until they made the radio look like a trapaziod... so they ruined a 650 dollar radio, fucked a 70 dollar center console up.

and insurance told me that they would give me 900 bucks for the damage and take out my deductible and it would raise my premium which is already 250-320 monthly so I was like **** you worthless bitch wtf am i gonna do with 400 bucks.

so my radio is trash, my console is trashed, I got pissed off and stripped all my interior out in front of the neighboors and now I have two seats, a steering wheel dashboard and thats it.

If I cant have nice **** and park it in front of my house to be left alone I dont want my **** to look nice, I can live with it, my si is just a beater but your cars mean a lot more to you than my honda being im more focused with my 240sx project... if they ever try to steal something again I am going to jail for shooting someone...

but yeah just thought I would mention that... its always the small things that bring out the ****** rage in a person...

Yea, I feel u. The @$$holes who stole my entire system at school did the same thing. They managed to rip the weather seal off and flip the power door lock switch up. Good idea though....I'll probably disable it too.

Useful If you ever lock your keys in you car like I did twice before I figured out to carry an extra key with me. Not really relevant, just bored and thought I would mention it.

 

Doesn't your alarm trigger upon the doors opening? Disabling power door locks is an inconvenience. Even if the thieves get into my car through a broken window and the shock sensor didn't trigger, I have ultra-sonic sensors which are reliable and will 100% detect intrusion.

Ah crap, just read you don't have an alarm. Sorry! I suggest you invest in one. Even el cheapo alarms installed good is better than a high priced one.

One advantage to having a completely gutted car: No one wants to steal your car, because there is nothing to get out of it.

 

not to add insult to injury, but don't leave your wallet (or anyone's wallet) in your car. that's just stupid. a stereo? who cares . . . your identification? that's important.

I have an Idea what if we get car covers that have a picture of a 82 VW Rabbit on them.
So in other words when you look at the car its a big 3D pic on the cover and it looks like a different car from far enough away

 

Umm - can anyone tell me how you can get the VIN from the Prod number? Mine is 100% totally unrelated to my VIN. Last I heard, no one here had figured out a way to tell the VIN from the dash-plaque mounted serial number.

I did what D did and moved the lock to the sun roof switch. As for the RS door handles, I just picked mine up today after a month and a half on back order. One thing with the sun roof switch which I think D was having a problem with, is you have to take the switch appart and cut a part of it. What happens is the switch was not designed to work like the door switch so you need to open the switch up and you will see a copper bar running from one side of the switch to the other side. Cut this and put it all back together and the switch works just like door switch. I simply grounded out one of the pegs (not sure on the number) and used the black/blue & black/red wires the alarm uses and it works like a charm.

hmm good idea.. i will look into the door lock system as well.. i shall put every security mod on my car that i can possibly think off hehehehe.. but nothing beats an alarm with a shock sensor and radar hooked up to 2 set of air horns (thats 4 horns) when that bitch goes off it will trigger alarms for 2-3 blocks around your car hahahah.. or if it goes off in my garage i will hear it for sure then go down and take care of business with mr .sig in my left

one thing most of all that i cant stand is low life stealing pieces of ****! god, dont they have nothing better to do then jack other peoples hard earned money? ******* haters.. just cause they are too lasy to work for it doesnt mean "if i cant have it i'll steal it" but seriously if someone were to jack your car or is in the process of doing it, you come out with a gun tell him to f^&$ off.. lets say he draws his gun and you fire? not to burst any of your bubles but I spoke to a professional thieve on how to steal hondas, this was overlooked being most people have security systems and most thieves are stupid, but all you have to do if your a "thief" is to find a ground on the car (hondas whole body is a ground) and stick a tazer to it... if the tazer is powerfull enough it will short out all security systems enough to get into the car and start it if they are good they can get through an autolock and still start it before the alarms come back online.

 

Hey does that air horn thing work for all alarms?? is it easy to do if you already have a alarm.. I want my alarm to use the air horns so i can hear it for sure.. ehehe any info will be appreciated.. thanks man

just so you knwo it is legal for you to shoot them if they were trying to steal your car and you had probable cause that they did want to hurt you...thats beacuse its a threat to you...but i live in a state where if they try to run away...you can still shoot them...in a couple of states they allow it bt not too many

 

Please dont tell anyone they can just "shoot" someone trying to steal their property. If that was true in all cases, people wouldn't go to jail for beating the living **** out of fools they caught breaking into their cars. Now...

I work in the car audio/security business. The first thing we tell someone wanting a security system: it is a preventative measure. It will inconvenience, but not STOP a thief who really, really wants your ride. If they want it, they will get it no matter what - short of a guard dog. The *best* advice is to get some sort of alarm with a pager, and take a few friends out with you if your "pager" goes off. Or, you can keep a baby monitor by your car when you're at home. Other than that, its a sad fact but guys looking for R's aren't just lookin to make a quick $20 off some CD's. They want it and they'll get it... all you can do is follow the things like "park under lights, etc..." Good luck... EV.

 

If you put yourself in a thieves shoes, and try to think how they would think, you can avoid your car being broken into or what ever they want to do. They hate them flood lights, noise and things that take time...

True you can have the best security system and they still can get to it... Not even worth driving a cool car around these days.

 

man i know this might sound way outta of hand.. but my personal opinion on topic of stealing.. in this case our rides whatever it might be that you drive.. its yours, you like it, you work hard for it, who ever even attempts to **** with it in my honest opinion deserves to be shot and killed on the spot. I dont give a f who it might be either. I dont go around messing with other peoples propertly so they should be touching yours/mine as well. Its a pretty simple damn rule.. if it aint yours dont touch it cause it doesnt belong to you.

just a little correction, er, addition maybe..... the moonroof switch does not need to be taken apart and modified at all to use it as a power door lock/unlock switch. no need to whatever copper bar he's talking about....

the problem i was having was not with the switch, but with my alarm system interacting with the switch.... so i just moved where i had my moonroof switch installed... still not sure why it was doing that, but, oh well, problem solved..
