Default Need help troubleshooting!!!

Here's my problem:

Whenever I my car gets between the 5-6k rpm range, it starts to hesitate, and even detonate. I can't figure out what is causing this!!! I have a 94 GSR with CTR pistons, intake cam, VAFC, cam gears, exhaust, FPR. I checked my gears, and they haven't slipped. And I've retarded my timing about as far as I can go. I haven't done anything to my car recently. I have 175K on the car, but 15K since a rebuild. I was wondering if it could be the injectors??? Maybe I need to send them off to be cleaned? I'm lost here. Any help would be appreciated. TIA-Dan

Why would you check the dist if hes detonating? Check the ignition components to make sure everythings good. Are you running lean after 5k rpm? If i were you I'd be visiting a dyno to see what things look like once they are on paper. Then you can possibly play around with fuel/timing settings and see what results you get.

Are there any ways I can troubleshoot the distro to see if the crank position sensor is bad? Thanks everyone for your inputs.
