Need ZC help ASAP..LOOK!!!
My swap is running
and its backfiring
-Think its timing? Its idles rough, then hesitates to accelerate and backfires on the way back down....Anyone know the firing order for a ZC-1990? LMK ASAP!!!!! Help!

check your spark plugs, are they white? Do you have a Fuel gauge and a FPR? I think you dont have enough gas shooting into your motor. I recently had to buy a FPR because my fuel pressure was only 20PSI. It was making the same noise as yours.. So i boosted up the fuel pressure to stock level which is 36psi on idle and the noise went away.
HondudEf see the picture that 88dxcrx put up there
in my zc i have it diferent
on the dist cap {the b16 pic } instead of 3 i have 1---intead of 1 i have 2 -----intead of 2 i have 4-----and the 4 i have 3--

Yeah the ZC one is different from a lot of engines for some reason. I had the same problem. The easiest way to be sure is turn the engine to TDC and take off the distributor cap and than you know the way the rotor is pointing is the #1 cylinder.

Its not electrical...no CEL..YEAH! but still clogged. Timing is off, thats a positive. I replaced plugs, wires, rotor, dizzy, belts, etc, but I think my cat is clogged and my timing is def. off...I have pics up soon..!
Do you have DOHC ZC? if so I have a link where the website shows you how to set the timing on it and if nobody gets you a definite answer before I'm off work I can throw it up here.
And just so i don't create a new post and you can't search for "ZC", and I can't PM anybody (talk about limiting factors here lol) I have some questions about ZC swap and they'll probably be pretty quick and easy but I didn't see anything on here and the ZC swap sites I'm seeing didn't get to the point for me. Someone who's got some knowledge about it hit me up on AIM: Racebannon420 or email Racebannon420@aol.com
Sorry if my email violates anything just kinda hard to directly ask someone when I'm still trial member

BACK FIRE= MISADJUSTED TIMING
Firing order for most 4 cylinders (incl. hondas): 1342 (cylinder 1 is the accesory/crank pulley side.)
Set engine to top dead center and pull distributor cap. If the rotor is on the #1 terminal your golden. Then just plug in (ignition cables at respective cylinders) going clockwise.

Its off...I need help with timing. It seems like one cam slipped a tooth. Ive gotten everything at TDC and one of my cam gears is off-(exhaust) how do I readjust? Take my timing belt off and redo everything? I hope not....if so I need help redoing the timing if someone has a step by step process.
to reset the cam timing, you're going to have to take off the valve cover and check out the aligning holes in the cams. there are also marks on the cam gears that show "up" at tdc, but they aren't perfect. the easier way is to check the holes in the cams under the cam cover.
here's how i do my cam timing-
1. jack up driver's side of car and put on a jack stand.
2. take off driver's side fender lining to get access to the crank pulley.
3. set the motor at tdc.
4. take a breaker bar and put it on the driver's side hub nut, and wedge it against the ground. doing this will allow you to hopefully torque off the crank pulley bolt. be careful because the whole car might want to come off the jack stand...
5. take off the crank pulley and lower timing belt cover for access to the timing belt tensioner bolt.
6. loosen tensioner bolt.
7. take off valve cover.
8. check the alignment of cams with crank, adjust as necessary.
9. put everything back....
that's just off the top of my head, i'll try to get a pic of those holes in the cams i'm talking about

WTF?!?...I just pulled off my valve cover and made sure my cams were matching at TDC. HERES THE WTF....I think everything is completley 180 off- if #1 is on the pulley side it is. The dizzy and everything else. HOw do I reset the timing? New belt and water pump...but my timing is way fucked. I need help and I suck at timing. Ill keep everyone updated...and I appreciate any help
yes, cylinder number 1 is on the crank pulley side... it counts from the "front" of the engine... basically the side without the tranny, it makes sense if you imagine that the car is rear wheel drive.
anyway here's that pic for cam timing alignment:

Im gonna take off the timing belt and retime it. Tha guy who previously did it fucked up real bad....I really should have done this earlier. I knew thats what it was....fukn bs...Ill keep every1 updated on how my swaps running.
Dude, can I have your engine?
I will send you a COMPLETE D16A6, already timed, with alternator, etc.
I just want me a ZC. I think they are cute. Kinda like miniature B18A1s.
Just playing around. I wish I was there, to help out. I can do it easier than I can explain it.

i dont really like your comments dude. your the type of person that makes d-series loving guys think b-series guys are dicks.
Hell yeah...keep your ignorance out of the way of d series fans. Your comments dont belong here and Id appreciate it if you thought before you spoke, maybe you could actually sound smart then. Thanks for the help everyone. I figured everything out but I have to wait for the weekend to finish.....timing was off and Im getting kinda good at it now....lol...
