Is it all Honda paint or just ITR paint that sucks?
Damnit, it seems like every day I find another battle scar on the R. The latest is where an animal (I'm guessing a cat) walked down my hood and started to slip and stuck out it's claws. So I've got all these "sets of 4" scratches on my hood. And that just adds to the umpteen other scratches on the hood from rocks or whatever else from the road. The other day I was working with the hood up and barely brushed the fender with something and it left a nice scratch. I have a nasty scratch on the door where my camera barely touched the paint (was trying to slide into my car without door-dinging D's R at Expo). I have numerous other scratches that I have no idea where they came from.
It seems like the paint is so damn thin. Is this just an F/NBP paint thing, an R thing, or is Honda paint in general just crap? It really sucks.

You should try Turtle Wax Color Cure. It is a Black wax that helps hid the paint chips and scratches. I used it on my 90k FBP Type R and it worked wonders on my hood. After afew coats, the hood looked like it came off a car that had half the mileage.

No matter what black you have, you will always notice swirl marks and fine scratches over any other color.

black really shows how much love a owner gives it. if you dont give it love, it wont give you love back. its very unforgiving. as long as you take care of your black car, it will always look good for you.
My NBP looks like *** now... Oh well.
I remember when it was new and how good it looked... now it doesn't look good unless you're at least 10 feet away.

In my experience Honda paint is kinda sucky but Honda blacks are horrible, I have a black 93 Si w/ almost no paint left and used to have a NBP Prelude that showed everything. But yeah, I think Honda paint in general is kinda "eh" and black paint in general is very "eh" so put them together and you get very very "eh" paint.
Yea, if you look on the paint on PY ITRs, if you look at the edge of the bumper towards the tire, you'll see paint coming off. Arg, I wish I was at home so I could snap a pic and show.
Honda = bad paint.

Hey that resembles me. Yeah, you don't know how good Honda paint is until you own a Subaru.
And once you have black, you never go back to black. Scratches show, dust shows, and it never looks clean except right after you wash it and at night.

I had a friend who is a very good auto painter mix me some touch up paint for my CW R.B/C the factory touch up wasnt even close.he said"The paint on the car is only a single step process" meaning no clear coat....Which is why it is so easy to scratch. This may not be a revalation to many of you here,I had never given it any thought
glad to see i'm not alone here...
I'll give the Color Cure or ScratchX a try next time a do a "full washing." Heh, which these days, is not so often because its such a pain to spend over an hour washing and then it just look dirty in 3-4 days.
But you all have to admit - when a black car is clean, really clean and shiney.... damn, it looks gooood!

Not on mine. My PY paint looks perfect. I think you must have done something to your car.
In fact, the Milano Red on my '94 GS-R still looks great, too - just like new, in fact. You should see it.

Nope, not at all. However,
Black = bad color (bad = shows scratches and swirl marks more than lighter colors do)
