94 integra problem... wheel bearing?
I just got new Volks for my integra and went to put them on last Friday.

Anywaaay.. I broke a lug installing them and I didn't feel up for fixing it myself so I took to carx.
They fixed it and got a **** load of air into my brake system while doing so.
No big deal.. I can fix that myself, I've been looking for an excuse to order speedbleeders for my integra for a while anyway.
They also took the hub off but they said the wheel bearing is ok, and could be reused.
Drove the car home w/o issue (10 minute drive).
So I have decided the car is 'unsafe' to drive as the brakes SUCK right now and I've been driving my prelude to work instead of my integra this week.
speedbleeders should come tomorrow and I'll install them tommorrown night and bleed my brakes all better right?
Wrong
I took the integra out tonight after 1 am to run it abit.
After about 10 minutes of driving I get a dull grinding noise, and additional vibrations when the car is in motion.
It seemed to get better on the ride home but its still bothering me.
Any ideas on what this could be? Just the wheel bearing bad or did carx **** up something besides my brakes?
Anything to check for while I'm doing the brakes tomorrow?
Thanks

I didn't get the point of the pictures until I noticed that the end of the axle isn't visible inside the nut!?! Where did it go? (Or is that just because of shadows in the picture?) Did they 'forget' to tighten it properly?
That axle nut is what holds the bearings together. So if your bearing somehow survived pressing out the hub, it's trashed now. Look for the CV joint being inserted as far as it should into the backside of the hub.
If the bearing separated partway, & they didn't realize it, they might have just put the axle back in. Maybe there's only 1 or 2 threads engaged in the axle nut? That's bad 'cause driving it may have chewed up the splines on the driveshaft or in the hub.

i guess they took the caliper off... its the only time the brake system has been opened for about a month. I went from good brakes to **** for brakes when I left carx

I bet the axle has worked itself out of the hub slightly, and it probably a little loose in the hub due to the nut not being tightened all the way. Stupid shops, this is why I do everything myself

the lugs must be lugcentric then...i think you can find hubcentric rings at pepboys or autozone

That shop messed up obviously, I'd try to see if you can get them to pay for the damages.
Why did you decide to replace just 1 stud? I went ahead and had all 4 replaced.
I did some reading on this before I had a shop do it, and it seems that without the corrrect tools, the bearing should be replaced, although replacing it regardless would be the best option.

What the.... have you been driving around w/o an axle nut???

Well, there's clearly an axle nut there in your first post. Did you take it off for the last picture or did you lose it?
When you press the hub out, most times the bearing separates, and the outboard cone comes out with the hub. That's what destroys the bearing. If you try to put it back in, it won't go back correctly. IMHO, it was already destroyed when they tried to tell you it was OK to put back in.
The strange thing is, most front wheel bearings are like that. Not just Honda. Why didn't they know that?
Looks like when they tried to put it back in, the bearings together were now 'thicker' than they're supposed to be, and they couldn't get the axle nut on more than a couple threads. That should have been a CLUE to the
'mechanic'. I hope it didn't chew up the splines on the end of your axle & inside your hub. Check those out good, especially if you try to get them to pay damages.
