If you know how to build your own turbo, it will be incredibly cheaper with relatively the same hp, based on the reading that I've done.

homemadeturbo.com...

I recommend getting a used t3/t4 turbo, pushing 6-8psi, VAFC, Boost Controller. You can do a custom setup for under a grand if you are patient and hit 13's relatively easy.

Isn't the c1 like 13.8-14.2 with i/h/e on street tires? and the c5 about .4 faster with the same mods?

you coudl do a b-series swap and turbo that or build you d and turbo that. there's enough support for the d-series to break 400whp pretty easy and still be pretty streetable.
