Default Need N/A Advice

Hello,

I blew my B16a2 block, and now I have to build a new one... The head is fine, and I am trying to buy a C5 Block but not enough money for that.. I checked with Bert-O and New is 2100 plus tax.. anyways, I think i am going to get a bare b16 block..

My question is.. What internals would be nice to use???

I know that I really want to use CTR pistons, (I believe they yield a 12:1 Compression, correct me if I am wrong).

I do NOT know what else to do as far as; Rods, Rings, crank (Knife Edge, etc...) Block gaurds (I think those are for Turbocharged motors, not sure...)

I want to make a great bottom end, and the head I will be using REV Valvetrain (Stainless Steel valves, dual springs and retainers..) with either CTR cams or TODA Spec B's, and a port and polish, not sure about angled valve jobs...

I just don't have much knowledge in bottom ends, so any N/A suggestions would be much appreciated..

Thanx

It's up to you, I suggest you search here on Honda-tech and also check out the all motor section depending on what route you choose to go with and how much $$$$ you have.

If you rebuild using a b16 block and CTR pistons, you won't be near a 12:1 c/r. Should be 10.8-11:1 due to the shorter deck height of the b16a's compared to b18c/16b. You are thinking of CTR pistons in a 1.8.
You'd probably be fine using stock b16 rods and maybe ARP rod bolts. You see due to the great rod/stroke ratio of B16's, stock they are great and reliable high revvers.

Yeah with CTR pistons in a b16 block youll be around 11.1 comp with a stock 3 layer head gasket. Is your b16 block you have salvageable? If it is you have a couple options obviously depending on how much you have to spend you can just put in oversize CTR pistons or any other aftermarket piston of your choice or you could have your b16 block sleeved to a 1.8 or 2.0. If your b16 block is not salvageable I would suggest trying to find a b18 block. I just put my gsr motor in my car and replaced my b16 and I love the extra torque. With the gsr block then with your b16 head and ctr pistons you would be around 11.8 to one for compression.
