Default PM6 and PM7 ECU question about chipping ECU

Will a "chip" say a mugen or spoon programmed chip for a PM7 work directly in a PM6 ECU or not. I mean are the chips and programs directly swappible between the two ECU's. I know maps are modified and different, but I want to put a MUGEN or a SPOON modified map for a PM7 (ZC) into a PM6 which is also used on a ZC. Does this or will this work. Been absent from the board for a while, but was making changes to my ride and needed some input.

As far as I understand it: if you purchase a "Mugen" or "Spoon" PM7 (ZC) program on a chip that is designed to run on the PM6 platform, then yes. I don't beleive that you could take a chip designed to run on the PM7 platform nad have it work properly. My suggestion: check out these sites, it's probably more than you cared to know.

Ok, basicly I know the computers are a tad different but used the same chips I believe and didn't know if a ZC program for a PM6 and A stock ZC program for the PM7 were in fact the same. I.E. interchangible or if infact they are coded completely differently. I ordered a ZC PM6 program. I am pissed I swore I put a ZC ECU in this car when I built it 2.5 years ago. Went to see about putting a hotter recoded chip and went to confirm the chip type and come to find I had a PM6 in it. Know its possible someone swapped it on me but I highly doubt that. Well at least the positive side is I have found another source to release more potential for this. Since this is only the #3 best ECU to have in it. Not racing it, its a daily driver, the ole butt dyno is whats important to me. Got soem hearders on the way, A Bosai exhaust which DID make a noticible difference on the mid and top end over stock and a CAI is on its way. Get the right ECU program and I should be a happy camper again. I don't care who I can beat or not, just as long as it feels fast to me. I'll do a B16 or B20 swap when this job market stabilizes and I can afford to fork out a few more bucks.

Went to http://www.pgmfi.org you had a typo. I have a 1989 PM6 acording to lables, but I am luck to have one of the few with an external ROM. acording to this site. Thats a saving grace as now I know it can be chipped. 1988 and most 1989 can't be as they have no external ROM. THey have pictures http://pgmfi.org/resources/art...12-02/ so you gave me a link that did address some of my concerns. Will read on to see if all are answered, thanks.
