Help w/sizing of helmet...........
I measured my head and it comes to 22 1/2 in. I was looking at a SHOE-I X-eleven helmet. According to SHOE-I's chart M = 22 3/8 in and L = 23 1/8. Which helmet size should I get? I know, you still have to try it on to figure it out which fits the best.
I've tried on the medium, it was hugger my cheeks pretty tight, after a minute my face was turning red. I did the shaking test and after a few shakes, I was getting dizzy. When I took it off, instant relief. I've tried the large, it felt good and still hugged my face well. When I did the shake test it didn't move as if it was too big(like an XL) but did move very slightly from side to side against my cheek(I was shaking violently). Although my friend said he couldn't tell that it was moving. When I stopped shaking it was still straight, so I know it was not loose on me.
They say that these will stretch a bit, but how much will these helmets stretch by? Are helmets similar to dress up shoes, where as they will stretch a bit but if they hurt from the beginning(long enough but not wide enough), they will continue to hurt till the end?
Any advice/comments are greatly welcomed, thanks in advance!

Very true. Also instead of shaking around like a rabid dog, try just having somebody try to force it off to the side. If nothing budges by the time your neck cracks then its good. Btw, if your forehead is not comfortable in a shoei its a good sign you may have an "arai head". And personally I was this close to getting a L shoei but I went w/ the M (dunno why thinking back) but it was definetely the right call. The M was tight and not really comfy and the L felt just right w/o any movement. Course my cheeks weren't red like you described yours. Sleep in one overnight and it'll break in quick.

its good that you are trying on the helmets, but you only mentioned Shoei helmets. You should try on every brand and model in that store before you leave.
Try on a couple HJC helmets also. Mine fits better than any Shoei ever would.
the helmet you buy should be "comfortably snug"

Shoei's break in nice, mine was snug at first but the padding starts to form to your head. Rember helmets are like anything else, you get what you pay for. wind noise for example.......
Definately have someone grab the front bottom and shake it, brand new there should be no slipage, otherwise in 10,000 that helmet will be loose on you.
Don't sleep with it on, you may knock your girl out, put it on when your on the computer or watching TV(around the house)......I still do it with my race helmet(cars) before big weekends to get mentally comfortable
AJ.....think about it
anybody else need one? Cheers
