Default Hondata intake manifold gasket?! Some THEORY and a few questions!

Ok, well if the Hondata intake manifold gasket keeps the heat generated by the head from entering the intake manifold then it is essentially not dissipating that heat like it would be stock. I am essentially naming the stock intake manifold as a heatsink, which it should work quite well as.

I am interested in the Hondata intake manifold in how it eliminates heat from entering the intake manifold, is it mainly by keeping the heat from the head from entering the intake manifold or is it by blocking coolant passages from entering the intake manifold?

I have severe heat soak issues with my Intake Air Temp (IAT) sensor, and I have been considering a few different solutions,... one being the Hondata intake manifold gasket, however if the intake manifold works as a heat sink device like I think it does then I am not willing to do this, and instead I will just move the IAT to the charge piping just before the throttle body!.... then again, the new Ford focus uses a plastic intake manifold, which would be a terrible heat sink,... which makes me think that this would be OK,... what do ya'll think?

The Hondata product your refering too is a intake manifold gasket. Basically it insulates your intake assembly from the head.

i considered the fact that this gasket 'reduces' the ablity for the im to be a heatsink. from what ive seen temp differences between head and manifold are around 20 degrees give or take. when u are talking in terms of hundreds of degrees, 20 seems almost negligable. with that in mind i bought the gasket and am lookin foward to the 3-5% gain in hp for a 60 dollar piece of plastic

You know you can build the gasket right?

You use two OEM intake manifold gaskets, and then you sandwitch high temp plastic between them

for the price you pay for 2 stock gaskets and the plastic you could just buy one of my companies. you do not need any other gaskets. Here is a thread about my gaskets.

actuailly I paid 20.00 for two stock gaskets, and the plastic will only be about 10.00, since it will be scraps from a machine shop.

I have to modify one is I buy it due to the enlarged intake runners on my head,,, so I might as well just make the whole thing, and sace 30.00...lol
