If you're R got stolen TODAY...
I've had enough of the worrying, parking far, nightmares, and just reading about all the stolen R's. It'd be time to move on if it happened.
I've actually given this quite a bit of thought lately. I limit my selection to year round daily driveable cars. Cars on my short list would be: WRX, Celica GTS, Prelude SH, RSX.
1. Supra TT
2. WRX (almost bought one instead of R)
3. S2000 (almost bought one instead of R)
4. IS300(almost bought one instead of R)
All these are in no particular order

who am I kidding, if I could afford it, I'd be driving a Ferrari F355 spyder, any color but red w/ black leather please!

I'm new around here, and this seems to be the most active board. Seems Type R owners have some serious problems with theft. I'm just glad LT1's don't fit into Civics
I've thought about this a lot too. The only thing that puts my mind at ease is the thought of having a 0-60 in 5.3 RX-7 or Supra. Theres nothing new that I like under $40,000
1. RX-7
2. 97-98 ITR
3. Supercharged Cobra with flowmasters
4. Supra TT
5. M3

Hey, I raced a new (E46) M3 the other night in my SS. Dam'n those things are fast! I used to pull 10+ cars on the older M's but that new one I raced was on me HARD! I did beat him, but only by 2-3 cars. I was impressed to say the least.
RSX R...I guess it isn't too popular with you guys yet.
When the first R came out everyone really didn't know what it was unless you were truly a diehard fan. (And that's hard to come by.)
I didn't really notice the Type R untill 1999. That's when I wanted one so bad. I guess it's good that not alot of people know about it. Main reason why our Rs get stolen now is probably due to the fact that it's highly advertised.

Actually jond. You can get a fully optioned (minus t-tops & leather) LS1 SS for about $29k right now. And that will pounce most cars out there. Including the new M3 and stock Supra's/RX7's.
Thats true. My friend is actually getting ready buy either a SS Camaro or Firebird. But, what you drive says something about who you are. I don't like the image associated with Camaro.

Yeah the image of the Camaro is mullet/redneck all the way. But with the $17k I have invested in my car. I have stone-reliable speed, and dont have to worry about ricers trying to steal my car. My daily-driven Civic SI has been vandalized twice. My Camaro doesn't even a warrant a second look. Well, actually it does. WHEN THEY'RE CHASING ME! They get a real good "2nd look" at my rear license plate.
Cheaper to maintain than a Turbo Honda and faster than a new M3...All for the price of a 16 second, 99 SI
I'll deal with the mullet image for that kind of scratch. Later.

All very good points. Worrying about where I drive isn't worth it to me anymore. If my R gets stolen I likely wont replace it. Its quite possably the best car in the world under $40,000, but not being able to visit my friends in DC without borrowing a car sucks dick.
