12 second EG hatch
Ok Im getting an 92 si in about a week and Im trying to formulate a plan for the project. 1) I want to be mid to high 12s. 2) What to be turbo 3) It will be daily drivin. 4) Keeping full interior. I want to get everyones opinion on what setup I should do...b18b, b18c, how big of turbo, should I use hondata, what kind of internals, other fuel delivery, ignition...Thanks in advance for the ideas.
ok, well the Si hatch was a bad starting point cuz of the extra weight, but much more comforable than a cx im guessing... at least you probably wont have to shout to talk to somebody in the passenger seat doing 80 on the highway cuz your road noise is insane....
i would say ls turbo... not sure what size, run a b16 or ITR tranny. about 10-12 psi at track....maybe on slicks..... nice manifold, 3" exhaust and no cat...invest in hondata, its great, trust me..... 12's easy IMO .... and know how to drive like hell...

well it depends on what u want to spend, b18b or c can easily hit 12s. i'm going b for the hp/price ratio. u can run more boost safely on an ls and make more power for cheaper. hondata is a must, as well as having someone who is really renowned do the tuning. tony at jotech is amazing, he makes good power with better dependability. you wouldnt have to do internals to run safe 12s if you do it right.

oh god. put the super street down.
it's just as much of an accomplishment no matter how you get there.
nobody gives a **** anymore, this isn't 1995 and running 12s n/a makes you a cool cat.

Whoa there killer... let's calm it down a notch.
Now that we are cooled off...
I was simply saying that to me, 12's all motor is more impressive than 12's boosted. That ok with you or should I go back to 1995?

lol!
what is your budget? like mista bone said you can achieve 12s with the sohc motor. heck, you can probably max out the greddy kit at 14lbs. w/proper fuel management/good tuning, and properly sized slicks and run a 12.
you should ask this question in the FI forum.

Well Im willing to do this the slow way and completly build the b18, turbo and all, untill its ready to go into the car. So lets just say I'll spend whatever it takes. The main goal is to have a eg hatch b18, not too much lag, running 12s on pump gas. I know this should not be that hard to achieve with good tunning so the hondata is a given. Im basically trying to make a list to follow for the build....1) get block...2) sleevs....something along that format.
any built b18 should be able to do it. but i'd say a b18c would be great
just slap a turbo with a large a/r on it on there, large fmic, get it tuned properly, buy some slicks, crank the boost to ridiculous levels and your set.

Ok so Im thinking Im going to go with a GSR and a rev hard kit...ditch the 12:1 fmu and go with a hondata s200....question now is if I run some 440cc injectors and a 3bar map sensor what kind of boost could I run on the stock internals. Just looking around Ive seen guys on here running 12 and up. I know the key is tunning but what is realistic.
damn...this may not be the mid 90's... but you tell me you're hitting 12's on motor only...and I'll shake your hand. Any foo can hit 12's on nitrous or boost in a hatch. do it w/ a sohc... I'll shake yer hand too.
