Default hello fellas, newby here.

i just bought a 91 accord 2 door. the body andinterior are immaculate, but it has a bad water pump and a blown head gasket. im only paying $400 for this car, so i think im getting a good deal on it. anyway, im wondering if there are any other parts i should go ahead and replace (such as sensors, etc.) while im in there. im not familiar with hondas AT ALL, in fact this is the first fwd car ive ever owned (im a nissan zcar enthusiast) and want to learn all i can. im not here to ask stupid questions. im really familiar with chat and tech forums and how to use the "search" option, lol. believe me, i know how annoying it is to see the same four or five questions asked ten times a day. i previously registered at superhonda.com and introduced myself just like this, asked the same question, and i went back two days later to check for replies, not only was my thread deleted but the moderator deleted my entire account. why? i have no idea. someone at one of the zcar forums i frequent recommended this site to me and says you guys are very helpful, and i look forward to reading/ posting here.

depending on mileage i would also check filters, t-belt, and just other basic maintenance stuff. nothing really different from maintenance of other cars just honda's are more reliable.

btw, i'm doing the reverse of what you're doing. i'm going from honda to nissan. hahaha. in the process of getting a used 340 fastback and swapping that out with and SR or RB engine.

sig picture is not allow because of the size..please understand we got ALOT of traffic here and people with low speed connection hate to wait 5 min to load a page

600000 replace timing belt, 80000-90000 to adjust valves(they are mechanical)

the sohc engine is very i mean extremty easy to work on..oh yeah..dont use rotary buffer/grinder to remove the blown headgasket

honestly, i have no idea what trim i have or the milage. i only saw the car once or twice (it belongs to my g/f's mother). i know its a 4 cyl, sunroof and power everything, cloth seats, two seater and a spoiler, if that helps. i was going to change the tbelt and tensioner as well anyway, i was just wondering about anyother little things because on my 300 when you do the tbelt there are other hard-to-get-to things we do while we have it ripped apart like the chts, water pump and thermostat, along with cam seals. i know ther is alot of traffic and some forums allow sig pics and some dont. i just wanted to make sure i wasnt doing something wrong, lol.

hey soysauce, what nissan are you getting? im not familiar of the 340, lol. do you mean the 350z or a 300zx?

here is what i would do .... buy a head gasket SET ... change the valve seals and the intake manifold gasket distributor o-ring timing belt balencer belt oil pump o-ring cam seal crank seal water pump valve cover gasket groments and spark plug tube seals sence your doing the head gasket that means it overheated... so i would change the thermostat check all hoses and take a good look at the radiator if it looks old i would replace it they are cheap i get CSF brand radiators for the honda accord for less then 100 bucks and that is with a lifetime warrenty also i would recomend changing all the drivebelts too

pretty much everything already said is right on. I'd add a couple things though.

the crank pully bolt is a bitch to get off the first time. I'm assuming it's not the first time, since the car is a 90, but it may be trouble anyway.

get the head milled. you never know if it's warped and you'd hate to do the headgasket over again in 2 weeks. (ask me how I know )

not sure if that vehicle has the balancer shaft oil seeal recall on it, but definately 100% do it if it's not done.

If you are keeping the car, consider the Helms manual for it. http://www.helminc.com same book the dealer techs have. mine has paid for itself 10 times over

you may find this helpful

I just did the headgasket on my F23, not exactly the same, but damn close, so if you want to IM me about anything, I'll try and answer.

h22 and h23 are refering to engines. these are the main swaps that most people do for accords.

sorry, typo..
too bad honda's valves are mechanical and the engine is interference..lol
in other word, you just have to keep up with the maintence if you want the car to last, any car, ford, chevy, honda or dsm..
