I got scammed by UPS!!! need advice
Well i didnt really get scammed by UPS, first off let me explain why im posting this in classifieds. Everyone in this forum has the most experience in dealing with mis-shipments, or lost items or scams.
Ok, now to the story, on Aug 21st I paid for four rota grids 16" in royal steal grey, in the amount of $450. On Aug 23rd they were shipped out according to the UPS tracking numbers. On Aug 26th they arrived at my house. Everything was peachy except I only received three rims.
So I called UPS and they told me it would be there the next day. I waited, no wheel. I call them back and they tell me that they would check with the lost and found area because the shipping tag may have fallen off. I waited, no wheel. I call back for a third time and get transfered to a claims department, I tell them the problem and they said they would put a trace on the wheel, this was on Aug 31st and they told me the trace takes up to 8 business days.
So they call me back and tell me the wheel is no where to be found, then the ******* HANG UP ON ME!!! I have kept emailing the seller almost everyday and he says he will check on it but never gets back to me. It is now sept 17th and I have yet to receive a call or email from anyone and my three wheels that i do have are getting tired of being used as a coffee table.
I emailed the seller again this morning and am awaiting his reply, I am also going to call UPS tomorrow morning. My Question to you guys is, what should be done here? Who should be held liable in this case? Should I just return the three wheels? Is there anything I can do but basically take it and wait?
My main problem is i cannot wait very long because I am getting ready to move and go to school soon, but anyways plz give me your opinions and or suggestions on what can be done. Thanks For Your Time!!

Well, make sure the seller shipped you 4 wheels.
If you got a tracking number with 4 packages most likely he did. It is not the seller fault UPS lost it.
So you need to hold UPS to it. File a claim and take to the people in charge and get their names and ID number if any. Track everything and all phone calls to UPS on a log so you can refer back to it. UPS has insurance on all packages and if the seller declare a valve it is up to that value.
Good luck and take down UPS.

I understand it is not the sellers fault that UPS lost them, but I will be moving soon and I will want my money back if that happens before i leave. Its bullshit, and i dont want to return them I like them A LOT. I am going to call UPS tomorrow, up to this point I have been very professional and nice about it and I will continue to try. But it might get to the point where I will have to get very angry with them so they remember me.
Ok i got some good news!!! The seller has contacted me and he got the claim from UPS and is supposedly shipping out my wheel tomorrow. Ill let you guys know how everything goes.

Hadent had any probs wih ups but sent a 110 lb block out with fedex and they lost it???? How do you lose a 110lb package?? It took them 4 months to find it and they sent it through. Fortinately the buyer was very pateint. They also lost a nextel phone I sold for $50 and because I insured it for $200 they sent me a check for $200.
Personally, I have shipped tons of stuff via UPS. And I swear there is some *** at UPS that specifically targets my packages. I tried UPS before and just sent a package to my neighbor and it never got there. Its mostly some fool looking for an easy score. I can tell you I lost over 8k in stuff from UPS. Lucky that I got my money back. But still its an inconvience. You should talk to the seller and tell him to file a complain and to send you the wheel. Another thing is that I put a 5lb weight in a box and sent it to my other friend and put down 1k for insurance. And sure enough package was lost and I got my 1k. UPS should definitely have some sort of an internal investigation.

UPS broke one of the JDM ITR headlights I sold.
Here is what I learned.
Getting the issue resolved, has nothing to do with you (the reciever). Its all on the shipper. My recomendation is to contact the seller, and nicely ask him to refund you your money. (This is assuming they really can't locate the wheel.) He will refund you your money, then he will file a claim with UPS. They will dick him around for a month or two, but eventually hell get his money for the wheel.(Assuming he had it insured) All UPS will really ask is for some information such as: an original invoice, cost of the wheel, etc etc. Then they will file a claim, and investigate it. It took like 2-3 days in my case, but mine was broken not lost. As the reciever there isn't a whole lot you can do. Its all on the shoulders of the person who shipped the product.
Sucks to hear man, good luck!

Well of course he can ask the shipper for a refund but that sucks for the shipper since he already shipped 3/4 wheels to the reciever. I'm sure the shipper would ask for the 3 wheels back and that means the reciever has to pay for shipping. Because if he refunded the money to the reciever the reciever has his money back and 3 wheels for free. The shipper loses out.
ok this is how it works, from experience mind you
Responsibility is on the SHIPPER. He or she must follow up and put pressure on UPS. You as the reciever can file a claim, but UPS only deals with the shipper.
A couple of things. The package must be insured. If it wasn't, you only get $100 per package.
UPS sends the check to the SHIPPER and not you. It takes them a good 3-4 months to send the money.
The SHIPPER must call/email UPS CONSTANTLY.
The seller is most likely not to refund your money until they get the check from UPS.
If you need the rim right away, I would suck it up and order 1 rim from jaydm.com (I think it's $100 for a single rim).
Explain the situation to the seller and give him a zipped file of all email contact with UPS. This way they will have all the information they need. Some sellers don't know that it is their responsiblity to follow up on claims.

UPS takes forever... When they lost 2 of my wheels/tires (how the fug do they lose half?), it took me 6 month to resolve the insurance claim. I think they don't have a good tracking/management to thwalt inside robbery by UPS workers.
FedEx on the other hand has been good to me. Except once, they cracked a CF spoiler that I shipped out. But, they paid insurance claim within 3 weeks and there management was prompt and courteous.

UPS is not responsible for a poorly packaged item.
Everyone here complaining about damages to they're things need to stop blaming UPS and start packing they're things correctly. Seriously, how would they know theres wheels in a box? Take your things to Mailboxes ETC. and have them package your belongings the right way.
I work at MBE and I ship hundreds of packages a day and my customers have no complaints.

A $1000 5lb weight. Must be something special about it.
