I just swapped in an h23 in the old f22a1 spot. Now I need help in the vaccum part. and help with the vaccum with the second set of butter flys on the intake. where do the line go from that black box. If any body can give me a run down on the vaccum on the whole intake. I thought I had it hooked up. The car would start but with rough idle, and when you rev it up and let off the car would shut off. and the car will not stay running on its own. anyhelp and if you got any pics that would be great. thanks

I really from wernersville, since alot of people never heard of wernersville, its easier to say reading. I have to woek sat and sun. I drive the baby blue prelude. where you from? Yea we can meet up sometime. let me know
if your talking about the black box that is located under your intake manifold on the drivers side of the engine. That's not your problem. It will run even if that's not hooked up right. Sounds to me like you have a ground problem. Try starting it at night in the dark and while someone turns it over and gets it going a little look and see if you see any sparks. That would be where the ground needs to be fixed. Sounds exactly how mine ran before I found my grounding problem.

thanks Sephro I will try that.yea thats the box i was talking about.
got some of the vaccum together, car runs ok, at first it was overloading with fuel, so I turned my s-acf to -40 on both high and low,I have 450cc injectors. but looking at the vaccum digram, where is the intake controll solenoid valve anlong with the intake controll diaphragm? it never came with my h23.( i don't think) also is the by-pass control solenoid valve on that black tank, that conects to the by-pass control diaphragm?
if so it needs to be pluged in right, but I have no plug? but on the black tank two of my nipples are broke off
I need help trying to figure this out, is there a way to by pass those seconed set of butter flys and have the car running normal? any input thanks ray

I have a h22 in my civic, when i had the motor out of the car i took the secondary plate out and un screwed the 4 butterflys then you can take the vacum controled valves off (the black box, solinoid, and the valve that hoocks to the arm) then just cap off where the vacum lines hocked to the intake manifolid. This did not pull a check light in my car but I have a chiped computer. After I did that I did some custom work to the intake and put a holly 68mm t-body on it and picked up more top end HP.

I did the same thing but I completly took out the hole plate for the secondary butterfly and the black box. Basicly it is like running a aftermarket intake manifold such as the skunk because they do not use the butterfly system at all. I have run several ecus and no engine lights due to this.
Check out this page. It tells you how to bypass them to keep them open.

BTW I broke those same 2 connectors off mine. I still need to buy a new one

Never mind keep the butterflys. That is exactly what I was going to do because of the one that nos makes for the gsr. Now that I see someone else has done it I think I will go through with it. By the way does the nos work prity well like that.

thansk for the link, but what about that black box, do I need it? because on the black bo there is a plug, but i have no plug for it. My car is still running like ****. it still idles up and down, and when I rev it, the rpms hang there even when I let off the gas. some times it will shut off. also what is all the vaccum **** that goes to the intake, I seen that on the vaccum digrams for the h23, and not for the f22.what should I do about that.

Its a 92 prelude s, swapped in h23 with the f22 trans, t-3 turbo aem rail, 450cc injectors,s-afc. I a digram, but what is the intake controll solenoid vavle and the intake controll diaphragm it show it going to the TB. (is that the black tank?) also onthe black tank there is an electrical plug, But I have no plug to plug in.
You really dont need the black box all you need to do is un plug it but you dont have a plug for it any way. If I remember corectly there is a vacume line that goes from the back of the manifold to the balck box and one to the butterflys, all you need to do is cap them off.

I don't know I i have the vaccum thing down, but when the car is runinng it seems like it has a miss in it, and it backfires alittle. still the car won't stay running on its own.
I have mine broken the same way you have yours and mine runs perfect. I would check your timing, and again all the grounds. Also check all the other vacuum lines.

I started to mess with my s-afc, I had the settings at -40, than bumpped them up to +15 and the car stays running and it seems to be smother. so I will see how this runs, I will check everything again. this is really starting to be a pain in the ***, how would the ground make the car run rough? thanks again

By the way you might want to take it and get it tuned. I have the same exact problems and it is all on my Vafc that makes it run like crap.
