Weird oil leak after valve adjustment...

Well about 1200 miles ago I got a valve adjustment. Being the dumbass that I am....I did not realize that I would need other parts like gaskets to successfully complete the job.
We went ahead and did the valve adjustment anyway.....and now I have a leak of oil...about 1 qt. in 1000 miles. Using Redline 10W-30. It is leaking off of the back of the valve cover...the side that faces the firewall. It looks like it dripped from my oil cap and went onto the valve cover.
The weird thing is how come there is only oil on the valve cover and not anything else???
How would not replacing the gasket make it leak from the oil cap area?
Looks like I need to redo it this weekend. Does anyone have the part #'s for all the stuff that I need to replace when taking off the valve cover?
And even after the valve adjustment there has been a loud tick coming from the bottom of the dngine bay....I'm pretty sure it's not the injectors. The noise is audible from inside the car, especially when idling or driving next to other cars. The tick speeds up with the revs. Kind of like tapping an aluminum can sound.

Make sure the rubber seal on your oil cap is still there. There have been a couple times where I've removed the oil cap only to have the seal separate and stay on the valve cover.

hmmmm....the rubber seal is still on the cap.
I also noticed that the rubber seal that is sandwiched between the head and the valve cover is moist with oil. The edge of the head is also moist with oil. Only in that one section near the fill hole though. Hmmmm...I was on it hard yesterday and I could smell the oil burning. Then I checked today and I'm almost a quart down.

How certain are you that it's coming from the oil cap? Did you check the condition of the oil cap seal?
I remember fuggin up my valve cover gasket while putting the valve cover on the head a while back. the problem became obvious instantly when i turned on the car. I suggest starting up your car and inspecting around the area where the cover meets the head and see if you see any leaks.

not positive.....but I see moist oil marks on the valve cover leading from the fill hole to the back side of the cover where it meets the head.....right at that point you can see the wet look on the edge of the head.

Is this your first time doing a valve adjustment? If so, you might need to adjust the valve again, if there are ticking noises still. I know my first time around, I had to double & triple check the clearance. It took me a long time...

Actually Chris on this board and Austin helped me do the adjustment. I'm positive that they did a good job. Would valve tick seem to come from the bottom of the car??
I'm really not sure what I'm supposed to be listening for. It's very loud, especially now with the silencer in.

thats may be the problem.. replace with new seals..

could be your header making that ticking noise.
just change your valve cover gasket and apply hondabond to the new gasket and you'll be fine.

We had to reuse the old gasket, hondabond used. It is entirely possible that the basket is pinched...but I wouldn't think so, but that would have been Chris(let's just blame him
j/k)

you can get a new oil cap gasket from honda if you need one
i had the same thing, but mine was just a wee bit older
