Prelude Power Windows 4thgen. Seems as thought the windows are BOGING.
Lately I have notice a change in the opperation of my Passanger and Driver windows. Seems they are slowing down a bit. Almost like the motors are haven to perform harder while operating.
Did perform search> Couldn't find any info. Anything close was to: Spray Silicone in the tracks. Can't be this easy!
Are my window motors tired
?? Wornout>? Or are they in need of service? If so please lead me in the right direction.
What have you done to improve the opperation of your Prelude Windows>4th gen??
Thanx Lude People!

sometimes teh felt/rubber piece at the base of the window gets worn or dirty and makes the window work harder going up and down and can also put extra strain on the motor.. you might try replacing those or cleainging them..
i actually proved the truth of this my self when my ex went to through a coke slurpy out the window and didnt have it down all the way
(@#$%@) after that i noticed that window went up slower and sounded like it was straining.. the molding was hard

I will try this tonight!
Check to see if they are dirty or worn.
I know the rubber piece that you are talkin about, on the passanger side the rubber piece had fallen out a while back. I had to replace that one.

Over time, the tracks and rubber linings dry out and make it harder for the window regulators to push up the windows. Just take your door panel off and spray silicon on the rubber linings and the tracks. I had the same problem in my Integra and my Prelude and now it's fine.

What about for the sunroof, you think it is safe to spray the guides on it?

i have a shuddering effect when lowering my windows periodically. espescially after it rains. does/can plain old water getting down there create this? is there a hole for the water to escape? the only thing i can think of is that it is somewhat clogged.
any ideas would be great. -92 si-

i had the same problem with my 5th gen. it will slowly roll up/down and bog. i took it to the dealer and they replace the window regulator in both doors and greased it up a little bit. the problem went away.
how much did the stealership set you back? i don't go there, but was wondering what would be the most i'd have to spend to get it fixed

The window regulator is the actual cable mechanism that rolls the window up and down. You could grease it up to lubricate it but there's no need to replace it unless the cable is snapped and your windows don't roll up and down at all.

Unless you were talking only about the 5th gen?
Does this apply to the 4th gens as well? I don't think so.... I think the 4th gens are on a track. Not powered by cable. Could be wrong? If so let me know cause I will be working on my windows this weekend.

The shuttering is most likely the window having trouble moving up and down the felt. Like if it gets wet it's more sticky so the window will stick a little then free then stick then free....
well i'm talking about a 5th gen. the dealership didn't charge me because my car was still under warranty. they said the regulators were defected. it shouldn't cost much to DIY.
my passenger side windows does something like that:
it goes down kinda slowly, then about halfway down it bogs really bad, almost stopping, then after moving down a bit more, it speeds back up .

Lucky you!
That it was still under warranty, I'm sure it wouldn't have been to cheep. "Dealer that is"
I took my apart over the weeken. Cleaned out the tracks. Sprayed Silicone all over my weather strips and the felt stuff. Works alot better now

i would not spray silicone on the tracks. i did that to my saturns sunroof and all it did was strip what little "real" grease i had left. then a week later it was horrible. i took it to the dealership and they put the real grease on it for free. worked fantastic after that.
now my 5th gen the passenger window is exactly 50% slower then the drivers side. i need a new motor.
