Anyone elses Sp00m header rusting?
mine is. I think its because I used that Blue Away steel polish and maybe shined it a little too much? didnt realize I was so strong haha. oh well guess its time for some header wrap now.
How about sending it out to get coated? It will help preserve the header, and more importantly drop the temperature under your hood. If I had an expensive bling header like that I'd be pissed..
mine is kinda, its getting blotchy. I too used BlueAway. I thought about Swaintech coatings since they are local but I dont want the thing to deterioriate inside out from the contained heat... it was too much $$$ in the first place!!!!!
I think I'll polish it or somehting....

Can you post a pic? I'm getting what looks like rust spots on the primaries and I've never used any polishing compounds on it. I think everything but the flanges should be stainless steel.

I was pissed at first, but then figured theres not too much I can do about it now ya know. So I just shrugged it off and figured I probably caused it anyway from trying to polish it with the Blue Away.
Last time I looked at it, it wasnt rusting on the welds or flanges, it was only on the primaries themselves. That was a week ago, and we just had a lot of rain, so Im sure its worse now from all the moisture. I can try to post a pic later tonight if I get a chance.

There are different grades of "stainless" .... some of which are better than the others.

Are you sure that it is rust? If you go to http://www.hpccoatings.com, they explain how "heat rash" is many times mistaken as rust. Many times those blotches can be polished out with a little elbow grease and a good header polish
i've seen a lot of really old spoon headers at A&J and never seen one rusting before, which is something considering how wet our winters are in Vancouver
i wonder if it has anything to do with the polish as you said, which makes me concerned because i recently polished my header with autosol

THERMAL FATIGUE
"Often mistaken for rust, thermal fatigue/oxidation is a problem caused by cyclical temperatures and hot gas impingement. HiPerCoat retards oxidation and heat buildup even at temperatures of over 1,600° F. Bonded onto steel, it extends component survivability by over 100 times".
This happens to stainless steel teapots if you use them often. does polish out though

I've had it for about a 1 1/2 years. I bought it through the IPS Racing groupbuy last year.
It's weird but those spots that look like watermarks started showing up a couple days after the header was installed. I'm not really sure if anything's splashing on it. Does anybody else have these water spots?

I never got the spots, but my header is has only been on the car for 8,000 miles, and I made sure I wiped it down before starting up the car the first time
so wait..what'd you do to remove this? i've got a fujitsubo header from like atleast 6 years ago that could use some blingin up..
