Who makes the most reliable AFTERMARKET cams?
The three that you listed are all good reliable cams, but know this every company has had at least one flaw. If you go to search and search camshafts, you'll see the experiences with certain cams.
Depends on the engine.
SOHC VTEC - I preffer Zex, best power made.
DOHC B-series VTEC - Toda, Skunk 2, or Spoon.
DOHC Non-VTEC - Unorthodox.

Agreed, I really like Zex in a SOHC VTEC

All cams break, not because they are poor quality but because of install errors.
Can't go wrong with Skunk2, JUN, Toda.
EF-1 makes good cams but they are pretty new so I haven't had any experience with them.. yet.
Remember about proper valvetrain, and tuning than every cam should be reliable.

there is no best *golden* cam that beats up everyone else in the school yard.
it mainly depends upon your setup, your budget, what you use your car for and whatnot.
sometimes cam "model X" works great on some setups, and not on others.
no one can say on this board that skunk2, ef-1 or toda is best for your setup without knowing what you have and what you want to accomplish.
for a decent amount of people, cams arent always the next best upgrade to more power.

All aftermarket cams have a chance of breaking, buy what you want, buy what you think will work best with your motor, and be ready if anything goes wrong. If you want reliable stay stock.

Spoon are the closest to stock cams , very mild cams . work great and you can benifit from a great mid range power and a bit on top end . but is as much as Toda , skunk and jun .

I think he was saying spoon was stock because honda makes spoon cams for spoon to spoon's specs (using CTR/ITR cores)

EDIT.... I guess you mean you havent had any other problems. I'will still leave what I posted for factual evidence. Sorry to jump on you like that.

You hav NO idea what your talking about buddy. If they never had any problems then why Do I have a complete set of ruined b series rocker arms and b16 motor that has been in my garage for a few years thats full of metal shavings. You mister , need to do some reaserch before you make a very bold statment like that.

reliable sources say that while Skunk2 uses chill-cast cores like stock, their (Taiwanese) tolerances are slop, so if you use them, at the very least, plastigauge to be sure you have proper oil film thickness between camshafts and journals. dunno if there are different ways of chill-casting, or if the metal/alloy can vary, but that might be another thing to consider- hardness/brittleness, etc. these cams generally make very good power. many people have no reliability issues with them, some do, and as we all know, bad news travels faster/farther, but even those with problems usually agree (however differently) that S2 cams offer a big 'bang' for the buck.
Spoon cams use actual OEM Honda cores, and are ground for Spoon to their specs by Toda.
Aside from Toda As (similar specs to Spoon and S2 stg1), the ramp angles of their cams are too severe for me to consider them (though they've been proven to make excellent power) when milder cams can make = or > power with the proper configuration, and wear less on the valvetrain.
after speaking with Rocket at ef-1.com, i'm likely to try the m22 or m23 cams. he does lots of research with many knowledgeable/experience people in the industry, and insists upon high quality materials, proven manufacturing processes, and seems to have good designs for power/longevity/reliability at good prices. yeah, it sounds like an ad, but i have no financial connection with him (and as are we all, i am a child of conumer/producer/marketing culture).
i've seen Crower cams, and didn't like the unfinished/rough edges on the sides of the cam lobes, and have heard that their cores are not the best. their specs seem good, though, and i've seen some good power with them.
Jun has supposedly improved their cams, which have been known to snap. i still think that their stage 3 cams are one of the best sets overall.
for valvesprings/Ti retainers, flat-out i'd say that for most performance applications, though they are a good value, $ aside, Rocket's are prolly the best.

On the topic of cams,
I just inspected some JUN BVTEC valve springs and they are very high quality. The best non-ef-1 spring I've seen to date. But they are a little to big for the stock spring seat and will wiggle at the bottom. I'll try to have some pics up of the shiny spots created by the wiggling motion.
If you plan to use JUN BVTEC valve springs you should use the JUN retainers as they will properly fit the JUN springs. The springs are kind of pricey though but if you like high $$ Japanese stuff JUN springs are the way to go.
Hopes this helps you JUN people.
