Go with a Quaife. They're zero maintence and if it ever breaks under any condition Quaife will replace it for free. I had a Phantom Slip in my old single cam tranny and it tore the spider gears to pieces after 3yrs of use. Now I am saving my $$ to put a Quaife in my S1 tranny.

CLutchType if you can handle the chatter
that means any :
KAAZ, ATS, Mugen, Spoon, Cusco, etc.
geared type if you just a regular guy that don't do too many "3 wheelers): ITR and QUAIFF

dont clutch types have a limited life?
that gets kinda expensive dropping trannys and rebuiling lsd's
to the original poster, maybe post up what you use your car for, and how many hard miles you will be putting on it.

Quaife
Great product, and very good customer service.
I had a few problems with my 1st Quaife. I sent it in, they inspected it, and then sent me a brand spanking new one.

nope, not the ones I used for years and years with incredible ABUSE ... that was pretty much all internet junk talking about the limited life ... there are BTCC cars that rebuild them every 4 years ... if we could abuse them as much as BTCC cars then we're abnormal folks ... but for our lil projects, eh eh no rebuilding.

The clutch style is cool because you can fine tune the rate of lockup on acceleration and deceleration.

OT, I have a 97 GSR tranny with a KAAZ LSD for sale.

Had a KAAZ for a couple months. Got if for a good price. It does exactly what its supposed to. At speed it rocked. Just point the car and go.
I couldn't handle the chatter though. My car is a daily driver, and parking lots were a biznitch. So I sold it.
If I could afford it I would get a Quaiffe. I believe ATS actually builds them, not sure, coudl be other way around.
But probably gonna get the OEM Type-R lsd. Its cheaper and does the job...and its quiet.
But you get what you pay for. I only go road-racing (practice events) about once a month to every 2 months. So for me, its not that important. Just for fun. And my car actually does pretty good without one.
So yeah, figure out your application first. If your not hardcore, don't get a clutch-type. And if your not rich, don't spend more than you have to.
P.S. To answer your question, you can get used Quaiffes for under $700, used KAAZ between $450 and $600, and used OEM for around $250. Just have to keep searching.
