pictures of my R1 on the ice!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! studded tires= whellies on ice.
The front tire has ice screws in it, back tire used to have screws also, but they ripped out, to 3/4 pick studs were used, and they pulled out, so i welded them together, and that finally worked. I was cought on radar at 117 in 1000 feet. Hooks up better on the ice than on the road. I think in ireland the actally ice race on a track. thats where i got the idea, i hope you like it.

one problem though, I had to get a new swing arm, becasue he 3/4 studs hit the swig arm, and cut hugr groves out of the middle plate. I welded a plate behind it to keep its strength. so now I have a swing arm for winter, and one for the summer. But other wise its such a ruch to be out on the frozen lake with the snowmobiles. It was perfect last winter becasue the lakes froze early, and there wasn't any snow for the first half of winter. Glare ice was perfect.

I think so too... do you really need to have your hi beams on? I mean how much traffic is there?

yup, take a look at all my posts. I posted this last year. These pics are abvious from last winter. And its getting cold out, so I found the pics again, and im getting in the mood to go out on the ice again. I thought i would post these pics again, becasue a lot of people probably hasn't seen them. and becasue i like these pics. Im hoping maybe i can get more poeple to do this, and maybe start up something in a area. Radar runs on frozen ice with rocket bikes could be a fun hobby for the person who wants to use their bike year round.

look up my last posts. i didn't rip off these pics. I will have more pics this year, don't worry. the front tire is also studded. so turns can be more safe. I have vhs frm last year, if anyone can upload video (vhs) onto the computer, i would ship the video to them.
I dunno safe and ice together? Hehe. I like my road nice and dry. Good ol san diego...where we've had like an inch of snow in the last decade.
Snow/flat ice is suprisingly soft. Plus its very comfortable to wear full unvented gear. The chunky ice is very painful though. Be sure to get a shitbox helmet.
DAMN! I've never seen anything like that. I've seen dirtbikes, but not a sportbike on ice/snow.
Yeah, I would like to see some videos.

If you were to lowside it looks as if you would just slide forever, that could be fun
Maybe this could turn into a winter sport! Ice sportbike drag racing. Isn't it cold with that motorcross helmet?

na, i have googles on too, and its not that bad. used to the cold i guess. If i use my normal lid, it foggs to easy, and all the vents in the helmet makes it worse than the motor cross helmet. And the googles don't fog up. much better. BUt i will admitt, when higher speeds are involved. it does get freaken cold. Same speed you can go on the road, i can go on the lake. just watch out for the ice fishing holes.
You don't need snowmobile studs either. You can use the same ice picks as the dirt bikes use. That's what my friends and i did last year. As long as their isn't too much snow its real good. you get CRAZY looks out on a lake too.
are you talking about the ise screws? I tried that first, but it doesn't hook up. My rocket has a little more HP than a dirt bike. and the screws pulled out too easy. If you look closly, my front tire has screws in it, and since the front tire doesn't put the power to the ground, those screws work fine. But im going to stud the front this year, so then i might get a picture of me touching a knee. haha, ill have to get a little more used to the ice before i try cornering like that.

My friend had ice screws like the dirt bikes on his TL 1000S. He had no problems at all. Put about 10 psi in the back tire and go. You have to use AT LEAST half inch screws. Then take a old tire and cut it and use that for a liner.

stupid question, but very curious.... from the picture where you are lined up with the ATV, and snowmobile, who won? hell, why do you need snow tires? I'll buy a gixxer 1000 and race with ya'll with street tires.

You make that bike look like a peewee.
