Default CEL Codes: p1359, p1361, p1362 - flash #: 8

H All, new to the board, very impressive site.

First, I did a search on the specific codes and codes in general, no joy

My wife has a '96 Accord V6 (132K miles) that has had the CEL light on for some time. AutoZone did their freebie OBDII scan and it said that the ECM was getting slow response from the EGR.

So, I pulled the EGR valve, cleaned it up (admittedly, it was NASTY) and reinstalled with new gasket.

No change on the CEL.

I had little confidence in the AutoZone scan anyway.

Pulled the analog flash code myself (didn't know you could still do that with OBDII) and the flash was 8, which crossed over the codes in title bar.

So, the two sensors in question:

CKP and TDC sensor - two different locations, both behind the timing belt cover, two different sets of wires, in a high-abuse area - anyone have any experience with these?

Can they be cleaned? Are they known to get 'dirty' and thus non-functioning?

Where can they be bought to replace - dealer only parts?

$$$$ ?

I'll be changing the timing belt soon (which has neve been changed) and need to deal with this sensor situation since it may mask other problems that may come up.

help

Cheers,

Bill-71ss gave the answer...what else do you want. it seems that you want to pay out of your own pocket, when its covered under emission warranty. if you never taken your car to the dealer you will get a free tune up spark plugs, wires, oil change, cap, rotor and they will look at the dtc's and fix your problem.

A P1359 doesn't apply to a 6cyl...

The P1361 is likely a faulty crankshaft position sensor.

If it really did set an EGR code, there is a plate bolted to the top of the intake manifold. Remove this plate to clean the EGR ports.
