Qusetion for turbointegra and turbo type r?
What kind of turbo do you have and what do you have to do in order to makes it run safe? What kind of head gasket is thickest or would lower the compression best? pistons are out of the line for me and i'm not planning to boost high maybe 8 lbs. do you think my r would be ok?
inlinepro headgasket should lower compression to around 9-9.5:1. no more than 6-7 lbs boost on stock internals. the best way to insure your engine from not blowing up is to go with pistons and rods. do a search on the forced induction forum for buildups.
Funny you should mention the inline pro copper head gaskets!
Just saw their ad in the latest "Turbo" magazine, and they apparently had people boosting about a bar on stock pistons/rods after just installing the thicker head gasket. Looked promising, but it's always hard to believe. FWIW

The best way to be safe is to drop the compression and get a stand alone engine management system. Although a stand alone engine system might seem expensive, you are paying for reliablitlity.
And of course if you really want to be on the safe side you could build your motor. However I dont think I need to right now. I am happy the way it is.

stand alone with no forged internals is of no use..stock pistons cannot take boost they will melt..rods will bend..
use the stand alone in conjunction with rods and pistons that is the good bet.
How could you disagree with forged pistons and rods??

i have a 2000 itr, with unorthodx pulleys, v-afc, toda cams b, toda valve train, spark plugs, aem cai, and dc headers, with racing medalion. I want close to 300hp thats why i'm switching to force induction. So will my pistons and rod melt in the long run if i'm running on 8lbs boost stock internals?
