ZC Performance questions.... ZC pros help me out!
Hey guys. I am new to the board, and had a couple questions about building up my ZC. I want to go all motor and already have a ported intake manifold, bored out throttle body, and the swapped SOHC vtec head on my motor, plus headers and full exhaust. What should I do next? I have a freind who has a ported SOHC Vtec head and a Gude race cam, both used for sale, should I buy them? Should I get an adjustable cam gear or save my money? I guessmy question is what should I do next? Keep in mind all this is for a motor that I fabbed into a 1982 civic Hatch. Its a big step up from the carburated 55 hp lawnmower motor it used to have. The thing rips pretty damn good now, but of course I want more power. Hints, Tips, tricks? Let me know. Thanks guys.

If the head is in good shape, get it for a good price, but don't take the cam unless it fits what you want. I personally don't like GUDE stuff, feel it's overpriced and doesn't perform nearly as well as they advertise/claim. Also you would probably want to replace the springs and retainers while you're at it, just to be sure. Next step since you have all the bolt on goodies would be to dig into the motor. Buy some 11.5:1 or higher compression pistons (get whatever compression yeilds a 11.5:1+ ratio, the VTEC head ups compression a bit I think), and some Crower econo-billet ones would be fine for the amount of power. Get the whole bottom end balanced, and with that setup you should make some good power. If you want a website all about ZCs, check out http://www.thezcr.com; good site and there's a guy on there doing a *****-to-the-walls NA ZC setup. Should have gobs of power and plenty of torque.
As for the adjustable cam gear....you need one if you put a new cam in the engine. If you don't, you'll never be able to reach, or know if you already have reached, the full potential of the cam. Just don't get an AEM is my advice
BTW, is this a street car, or a drag queen?

grab that gude stuff. from what i've heard about gude mainly their customer service blows. i've seen plenty of gude stuff in d-series cars running pretty decently. on a side note thats bad *** building up an 82 civic, got pics and info on it?
As far as pics go check the first post, it has a link to a pic gallery. And this is my daily driver. My drag queen and auto X car is an 85 rx7 that I am currently putting a 350 Hp built 5.0 V8 in.

Yes. I will need you to supply me with ZC cores. Two grinds are available.
Z21 - Hot stteet - decent idle, better than stock gas mileage and good power from 2.8K to 6.8k rpms.
Z22 - Hot hot street grind - rough idle, good power from 3.8K to 7.8k rpms.
Both grinds like Nitrous.

Awesome! How much will the Z21s run me for? In a couple of months I'll be looking into getting some regrinds, and I'll take a good look at yours.

CP can make you pistons and I believe valves are available but if you spend the "valve" money on a header you'll be better off.

You guys at E-1 need to reconsider dealing direct. Three different dealers have not returned answers to my inquuiries. And I if they are that indifferent to make a sale what will they do after they have my money.
