good ways to make hp with no money
take off bumper supports, put washers in between hood and brackets to space out hood (cooler engine, more power), take out sound deadening w/ extreme cold or extreme heat, the list goes on, mostly weght reduction, no HP really...

making hp along with no money usually doesnt belong in the same sentence.
you can gut your cars interior but the difference is probably going to be minimal .02 sec on the strip or something.
not really worth it in my opinion, unless your car is for track purposes only.
Sorry but you are gonna have to spend some money on some aftermarket performance parts to make power.. Even if it comes down to DIY's

cut a hole in your hood and route your intake tube outside...j/k
advance timing to max
set your cams so there opening the max they can
take your cat off and gut it.

how do you do this exactly? I was thinking of doing it but don't know how and what washers to use.

Look up cowl induction.

get washers that could fit abot the 4 10mm bolts that hold the hood, put the washers inbetween the hood and the brackets, shouldnt be more than a dollar for the washers.
My suggestion, if you really can't tell what size washer, take off a bolt that holds the hood, bring it inside the hardware store and find a washer to fit snugly around it.

there wouldn't be a problem with water getting into the engine bay and causing harm at all if this is done right? (the cowl induction) Should still be a tight enough seal?

advance your ignition timing a couple degrees. and i have heard from tons of people that from everyone hundred pounds lost, you loose one tenth on the quarter mile. weight reduction is worth it. im removing all of my power steering and a/c tomarrow, but i have a Civic Type R crank pulley which only spins the alternator. even if i wanted a/c or ps i couldnt have it. there is no place to put the belts. my trunk is gutted, and i will eventually remove the tar that sits in the trunk and under neeth the carpets. every pound helps.

I don't think this will gain power and I bet you could even lose some, but I'm gonna be doing this in a few weeks. I have an AEM CAI and I live in washington and would rather not hyrdolock.

hate to tell you bud i agree with the others... no dough, no go!!! plain and simple...besides which it's an ls anyway. I rock one so i feel that i can knock it... you def gonna have to dump some cash into an ls to make it quick... it can def be done, but not without some head work... basic boltons on an ls really arent gonna get u too far against the competition. its all for fun though anyway so enjoy it either way... you want quicker...sell it and get vtec!
yup, no dough, no HP increases.
However, you can make the car faster by losing weight. Call Jenny Craig, even if you're not overweight, lose some more. This will take a second of your 1/4 mile times.

I'll update my site soon with more of the crap I've pulled out of the car.
it's an amazing difference in the way it drives.

Pull off your intake resonator box and run some home depot dryer duct up to the filter. Take the top off the filter box. The throttle response will improve, at least, and it will SOUND faster
