Default JG Edelbrock Intake Manifold

With all the talk/hype about the AEBS manifold - why hasn't the Edelbrock manifold been discussed much? I saw Descartesfools post about it and looked into the manifold and was wondering if anyone had any experience with it or the oversized throttlebody that goes with it?

How much is this manifold? Anyone have any experience with it? Seen it in person? Is it bigger than the Type R manifold (plenum? longer runners?)

Can't find any details anywhere about this one.....

I did a search (all 172 archived articles on Edelbrock too) and found nothing but anecdotal evidence.

Is this IM for FI only? They advertise it for built NA applications - is the plenum too big?

What about the Skunk2 one?

.....I know someone who tried one of these on his 1.9L motor and made like 10whp across the board LOSS. This was high compression and spec b's if I recall correctly. I can't remember the details of the throttle body setup he was using though.

on the jg manifold is design mainly for FI , also all motor applications that benefits are fully built . Youy will have much better top end with the jg then with the itr but your midrange will suffer some . For drag racing jg is the way to go on a fully built n/a application (specially if you have more displacement 2.0l or 2.2l ) for auto cross the itr is best ....

Yeah, JG is not associated with Edelbrock anymore.

Interesting. I guess that makes my JG/Edelbrock intake manifold a collector's item now.

The plenum is significantly larger than an ITR intake plenum and Steve Sakai reported a loss of power with it on his car.

I never got a chance to compare my JG IM with the stock IM. Im using the JG and maybe sometime over the winter when I pull the head I can swap back to stock and see the difference.

A couple things Ill say about the JG. It doesnt fit very well with the stock components. As you can see in the comparison pic, the JG has a longer plenum. This creates a weird angle with the throttle cable and it actually rubs against the runner closest to the TB. Not only that, but it makes the cable not fit in the stock "cable holder" so it kinda flops around unless you make some kind of custom bracket.

This is the one piece of the motor that I wish I could have had more info on before I bought it and had it installed. I should have installed if AFTER the build but oh well.

Im pretty sure that SGT tested it on his motor and he lost power.

rocket also tested it a while ago, and it only made a lil bit of power way way up top

lost power in other spots

i know BPR has a pretty mean setup, if I were you I would look into getting your stock ITR IM ported and polished or get someone who really knows their **** to do a custom sheet metal intake. it should be under 600 bucks.

brad @ rlz engineering is coming out with a steet metal intake for under 400 for both an na app and fi app. should flow alot and make good power.

ive only seen a few street people with the str intake manifold or I think golden eagle makes one too for the b16 head app. its hard to say because the people who spend 500 dollars on it, are usually pretty serious about keeping their setup hush hush so they dont always release dyno results.

Holy Sh*t! That's huge!

-Chad, who never saw them side by side, and now understands why JG/Edelbrock loses mid-range

Someone take a pick of the AEBS manifold next to stock
