If you can afford the upkeep and maintenance costs of an older rare vehicel, my vote is NSX all the way

Well the ITR is already pretty far gone N/A. You can sell some of the parts off and go turbo but that'd be up to you.

Also what is your income like??? The reason I ask is because the maintenance and upkeep of a NSX is beyond a lot of people's budgets. Just because you can afford it doesn't neccesarily mean you can afford to keep it.

When I looked @ some of the prices of regular maintenance stuff it turned me right off the NSX. My vote is to got for the ITR.

Early versions of the NSX shred tires. You will be buying new tires every 1000 miles.

ITR....

almost everything for the ITR is cheaper, and most likely remain that way.

Also, the ITR will probobly hold it's value better than the NSX, but I could definatley be wrong here.

Did you consider Insurance on the NSX vs. ITR...that is something I would check into as well..

Well, at least you can park an NSX at a movie theatre and be reasonably sure it'll still be there when your movie's over.

Either car will be a PITA to own, if you ask me.

I have heard to stay away from 91 NSX's and mid production 92's because they have a piston or wrist pin problem due to it being the first year of VTEC and not all the bugs worked out!

There was a recall on the snap ring I believe its called in the tranny on early NSXes. Most of them have been fixed.

Several people on this board own NSXs and say they are cheaper to insure than ITRs.

NSX is my dream car, Id go for one in a second over an ITR. My only concern is it would likely be more difficult to drive at HPDEs vs the ITR for myself being a track n00b.

NSX, no doubt.

The R, while nice and worked is ...... well ....... nice and worked. Just waiting for a retainer to fail or cam to snap, and then .... new engine time.

Plus, mad chick factor for the NSX, that isn't quite there for the R.

Your $20K wont get you **** with an nsx... Acura charges $90/hr just for labor. As for you wanting b00st... unless you are going to be making a ton of $ neither is such a great choice.

I own both an NSX and an ITR. I track the ITR a lot, and it is fast and fun when modified, and I used to track the NSX(still do occasionally). There is absolutely no question, buy the NSX. There is no comparison. The ITR is a fun car to trash around, beat up on at the track, and it is a blast. But it is noisy, has no torque and is not remotely in the same league as an NSX. I drive both regularly. I have had virtually zero maintenance costs on the NSX in 10 years. Nothing breaks, same as on ITR. Gordon Murray drove an NSX around for two years to use as a benchmark to design the McLaren F1. I can assure you he would not have chosen the ITR. NSX is best car I have ever owned, and I am planing to keep it for a long time to come. You should get one if you can.

Pretty sure this isn't true.

On a track that ITR wouldn't have any problems getting past a stock NSX assuming equal drivers. So IMO the ITR would be a better and more fun car to drive on the track. However for 23K the NSX is a great buy, definatly get it looked over for any sign of accidents, paint work and see if it's in snap ring range(however this isn't too big of an issue unless the car is exipiting any problems). Definalty check out NSXPrime for some usful info and I"m sure Ken will chime in.

I really wouldn't have thought a stock itr is even remotely a match for a stock nsx on the track. A couple times a year I "spar" with a modified nsx at the local road course, and we're pretty even. My perspective can be very misleading, though, because my itr is heavily modified and the nsx is modified to some unknown extent.

NSX. I almost bought one instead of the Type-R. My logic in getting the ITR was I thought the nsx would draw too much attention and be a thief magnet

You might call your local acura dealer, and ask how much the 60,000 mile service costs on it. How much it cost to change the water pump, alternator. Look into how much the rear tires cost, and ask people on http://www.nsxprime.com how long rear tires last on 91's.
