Hey all. I tried searching "K&N" but I don't think I can search for "&" a s a character because I got no hits on that; I'm pretty sure that name has come up in a title at least once on the whole forum. (search suggestions are most welcome)

That's my explanation for being a lame-*** newbie and asking the following;

What's everyone's experience with the K&N intake kits. I didn't see any listing for the Typhoon setup on http://www.knfilters.com but there is the FIPK. Looks to me like another short ram. Anyone have pictures of this installed? My brother is looking into getting one for his LS and is curious about fit and gains.

you're probably better off keeping the stock airbox, and using a drop-in k&n filter.

 

I don't have first hand experience, but it seems a little pricey for just a short ram. Even with all the arguments out there about which intake is best, the difference is a couple of horsepower between them. Honestly, get what you can get a good deal on and forget about it. There's more to making power than intakes. Sorry for the rant.

 

It's a good quality intake but there are other alternatives such as AEM which will perform about the same.
