Any Alpine Gurus out there?
I don't get it...I upgraded my head unit from a Alpine 7564 to a Alpine 7863 (Granted I did this back in December) but for some reason, I can't help but think that my old deck hits harder than my new one...to the point where I might replace it with my old one....
May be it's all the fancy shmancy stuff on this thing. It looks nice on my dash and all but I sure miss how my beat used to sound..
Anyone can help a girl out? I need to learn how to set/tune my deck...
Not sure how to use all the Frequency stuff....
Thanks!!!

glad to know there's someone out there that feels me..I'm might just take him over to an Alpine authorized dealer and see if they can spit some knowledge at me...Will let you find out what I learn...

i think alpine messed up on the newer units, it seems the bass output isn't as high as on the older ones (like 5 plus years). The subpreouts don't seem to carry much bass down them either... ok well they do, but with the speaker lines being 60 watt max output, the deck's amped lines seem to get alot louder faster than the preouts.
Did you adjust the sub level yet? And bass output is very high, but I don't think you will get the full 4volts out until the sub level is turned up to full.

How do you do it? Give me some set up example please. Mine is Alpine CDA 7875. Thanks

tried this too with my CDA-7805. ( I think that's what it was). I believe the only way to get it to match on any higher powered alpine is to use a 4 channel + sub amp. The amp'ed outputs put out alot more power than the equivilent power the pre-outs do when at mid volume levels. I've actually measured the pre-outs on some of the radios we had before when I was bored. Volume level of like 25 and the preout voltage is pretty good... but below that it's pretty low, YET the speaker lines are nearing distortion.

What we're trying to figure out is how to use all those frequency settings on the treble and bass on our alpine deck. If someone can tell us how to use all the frequency stuff, it'll be nice.

yea, we're talking about when you can change the bass and treble, you can also change the bass frequency, rangeing from 60hz ~ 200hz (hz or khz? dunno)
also, treble goes from like 10hz ~ 20hz i think
what do these mean, how do the different frequencies effect how i hear my music, and what are optimum settings for different musical generes

This one is a hard one to do online. Alpines are very adjustable, which poses a problem. With so much flexibility, it could be anything causing the problem. Does anybody live near her?
Maybe she can give you a ride in the A4 for payment.

WHOAH!!! I actually got some replies on here!
I couldn't think of anything to do today - and didn't leave my apartment til 5PM (i really wanted to wash the cars, but my neighbor beat me to it AND she parked her car in the "car wash area ALL day" Good lord!
sorry for the little vent there..
what I shoulda done was drove the hatch around and hopped from stereo store to stereo store asking for some alpine ABCs....if we don't get our basic questions answered here...I might do that next Saturday..
Sooooooo let me think, the better the bass, the lower the frequency??

Pretty much you just tune it to how it sounds good for you. Personally I set the bass to either 0 or +2 at around 62 Hz, and the treble I set to +6 @ 16 kHz. It's all personal preference though (if that's what you're looking for etc). To actually adjust it, the left & right arrow adjust the frequency where the adjustment is centered, the volume **** actually adjusts the gain/loss at that point, and the BAND button (if i recall correctly) is what changes the width, which is how steep your adjustment falls off... or in other words, how broad of a range the adjustment has. 1 has the widest range (say 20 hz to either side of the frequency you centered it at) and 4 has the narrowest, say 5 hz.

now we're talking... that's what i needed a sample setting. Ok, if you can explain a little bit about this numbers,
bass center frequency from 60, 70, 80, 90, 100, 130, 150, 180Hz. (are this like, the higher the number the higher the frequency)?
Width from 1, 2, 3, 4 (wide to narrow)
Bass level -7 to +7 (are this like, the higher the number, more frequency)?
Treble center frequency from 10, 12.5, 15, 17.5KHz
Trebele level -7 to +7
Help me to understand this numbers. Thanks

Yeap, you got it right. The higher the # the higher the frequency (hence why the bass settings are all 150 or below, and the treble are 6 kHz (6000) and above). Pretty much you're just picking what area you want to bring more emphasis too (or reduce). So like my setting of 16kHz for the treble with +7 and band of 1 will make the highs really loud and spread the affect over a wider areas of the highs.... that's the way I like my stuff.

Do you have subwoofer that are running the bass because if u don't then you set your low (bass) freq to about 80hz -120hz because anything below that without a subwoofer then its no use.
As for mids and highs, the freq should be about 11khz to 17.5khz. Also on the newer alpine models, there an internal crossover that set is to a high crossover which defeats all the bass so you have to turn it off so that the output of your deck is at full range then you can tune it.
Also for the narrower sound you should go up from 1 because at 1 the bass sound flat and wide with alot of boom for rap or hip hop. The higher the the narrower up to band 4 think which is usually good for rock music.
Then for your adjustments, for bass level without any subwoofers set the level output to about a -3 or -4 then for treble it should be at about a +6 or +7.
That should be enough but if you need more just let me know

Thanks

if you do hear your speakers taking a crap with the bass at 0 or +2, then drop it some. Like I said just tune it to how you like it. I had the MX (BBE) set to +3 and mine settings. Sounded great to me in my civic, and then in my lude when I switched cars (6x9's in the rear and 6.5" components in the front). Play around and find what you like, after all it's your ears that have to hear it

Thanks for the additional info. That's my problem I can't tell the difference when I change all those settings. They sounds the same to me. Unlike on my old pioneer HU, the only setting I'm playing with is the bass and treble (and basically from 1 to 6 only) Very simple. Again, thank you.

by default it's off. The only bass options you can really turn on that are factory off would be the high pass filter (which if it was on would block the bass to the speakers), and the sub-woofer control, which will only do anything if you have an amp hooked up off of the preamp outputs
