well i know nothing about car audio, but i'm planning to get new speakers and subs but wondered how maybe i can keep it from sounding to shitty since it's gutted and i'm afraid i might get a very nasty metalic sound everytime the system bumps, wat might help to keep it sounding pretty decent without adding lot's of weight to my car?

A stripped car is ok for subs. If you are talking about rattling from outside, it will be no different than normal.

Wait... not meaning to flame or anything.... but why would you put a system full of heavy stuff (subs, box, amp, etc...) in a car you just gutted?

An amp weighs 10 pounds. The sub can be removed.

Just bolt the amp to the floor, and go on a diet to lose 10 pounds

also are carbon fiber boxes worth it, do they really save a bunch of weight or does it not make much or a difference, or are there any other suggestions on lightweight boxes, plastice, carbon-fiber, watever

CF does not make a good box. Plastic can be fairly heavy once you have a larger box. A cheap 1 cube sealed box for a 12 will only weigh 10 pounds or so.

I have heard of someone considering thick styrofoam before. Like the stuff they use for packing somethings. It is very stiff, and may work nicely. It will be pretty bulky though

If you gutted the hatch to save weight, don't put a system in it. That stuff is very heavy!

if you are putting a system inand want it to be easy to quickly remove i would suggest mounting the amp to the subwoofer box so you could easily remove it when going to the drag strip but remember if its easy for you to take out its also easy for someone who is stealing it...

Most subs are easy to steal. My 15xxx is at the other side of the extreme. The sealed box that it was in weighed 30 pounds. Total weight in the box was 87. I pulled the box out of my car with sub installed(last time I will do that). I carried it 75 feet and almost died. When I put the ported box in, it would be good comedy seeing someone try to heft that box out

part of the reason of stripping the car, other than wanting it to be lighter for racing, was soo i wouldn't add way to much weight with a system, and i've heard of lightweight systems (including the subs, and so forth) and have heard they don't produce too much bass, enough, but is still light, truth or just b-s?

How light? give me a number. It is all relative. I think 30 pounds for a 12 inch sub in a 1 cube box is light enough. As far as I am concerned if 40 pounds slows down your car that much, then you need to focus on getting some power Remember 100 pounds will cost you .1 on a 15 second car.

I understand what you are saying. But you are dealing with a different animal in car audio. People don't judge quality solely on the weight of the item, like a rim for example. Weights for subs is normally not published, except for the monsters. But if you want descent sound and light, I would suggest a low cost, low power 10 or 12 in a small sealed box. High power subs generally have a lot more mass. For weight I would recommend something like the arc sub, and a prefab particle board sealed 1 cubic foot box. I doubt that combo will be over 25 pounds.

thank you. also, besides having a box, is there another better lighter way to mount the subs in my car, i know u said it's a different animal, but still, i've seen the custom set ups and such, even a guy that cut whole out of his back seats and stuck them through there and re-stitched the seats, but i have no back seats, so wat's another alternative?

Well lighter than prefab, particle board Try to find a box with .5 inch walls. I have heard of some interesting things like styrofoam I have no clue how to mold that though.
