Default What's needed to lower my car?

Do I just need lowering springs, or do I need to get a full suspension setup?
I've heard different people say different things about this.
What do you guys think?

What do you want to do with you car?

just for street and look? or go all out and go to the track and race etc...
Different set ups for different options.

Mainly, I just want to get rid of the nasty fender gap... I don't foresee myself doing much racing, but I would like to improve the handling, nonetheless. I will eventually go all out on the suspension, just right now, budget constraints prevent that. I'm just trying to figure out if I can get away with just springs for the time being, and if so, what, if any, would the performance benefits be?

I'm pretty sure that you will need aftermarket shocks also, because though your stockers will hold up for a while, they will eventually give out. You could get away with it for a while though i think.

Remember, if you go with just springs, you will have to replace the shocks after a little while, and you will have to pay the labor again. If you are doing it yourself, you will have to take all 4 corners apart again...

i have the eibach prokit springs and they are nice....its only a 1.5in drop isn't my stock shocks be able to handle this even for after a long time...i would just think anything getting close to a 2in drop would call the need for new shocks..am i right...someone correct me if im wrong...

I think a good life for a stock shock with lowering is 6 months or 10k mile max. Ride height is not the issue. The work required to dampen the stiffer springs is though.

ya....any 1+ inch drop will kill a stocker shock in about 6 months of regular use.... a 1.5-2" drop will give you a nicer look, improve cornering on the car, but using the stock shock will give a slight bouncy feel over bumpy roads due to the stock shock's decreased travel. Your ride quality for a 1.5" drop shouldn't be dramatically affected on a stock shock.

The full suspension set up will give you total control and is the best solution, but you will have a much stiffer ride and much improved handling and launches from a stop.

If you need to lower your car slightly and are on a budget... I highly recommend a mid priced coilover spring (adjustable)... you get some benefits over a fixed spring:
You can adjust ride height until you know what you actually want looks wise.....and you can raise the car back to stock height in the winter (snow)...if it snows where you are... not to mention you will maintain the stock ride quality...

peace...
