Also, what other recommended modifications go along with this swap?

uhm......they won't fit. vtec cams into non vtec engine = no go.

I had some twit tell me he put type r cams in his otherwise stock rs.
So what high performance cam is recommended then for non vtec?

jg makes good cams gude makes cams ef1 makes cams and crower makes cams so there are youre choices take youre pick..

Vtec cams won't fit a non-vtec head.

I believe due to the fact the rocker arms are on the other side.

cams arent going to do much, if you want power on aLS your gonna have to go boost.

&lt;shakehead&gt; Vtec cams have 3 lobes on the intake and 3 lobes on the exhaust. 2 of them (the outer ones) are used for regular operation. The single center lobe is used during the vtec operation. Because of this you CANNOT use DOHC VTEC cams in a non-vtec motor. You can however, install a DOHC VTEC head (b-series) onto a non-vtec block and get DOHC VTEC-- like what i did. Its called a LS/VTEC. Use the search engine for that one if you want more info.

Observe: VTEC CAMS



Now non-vtec dohcs have only 2 lobes on the intake and 2 lobes on the exhaust.
