Default Need RSX to Prototype an exhaust.

Hy Tech Exhaust needs a RSX to design and develop a full exhaust. We are in Irvine CA and we can be reached at hitechexhst@earthlink.net. We would need the car for at least a week. In exchange we will offer the exhaust and a extremely discounted price. Just to let you know we picked up 22 lbs of torque and 20 HP on out stock ITR.

...seems only fair to provide the exhaust at no charge...to adequately compensate someone for the use of their new vehicle and their valuable time.

If you had one of his exhausts, and understood how long it takes for him to build it...you would be more than happy to receive it at a deeply discounted price, especially if you received it installed on your car. Hell I spent $1300 on just his header for the Type-R, would of loved to have received a deeply discounted rate if he used my car.

WOW, talk about pricy! But, I guess if the performance gains are there and it's high quality stuff, maybe it could be worth it. Just sounds expensive for a header.

hitechex: there's no way an exhaust would add 20 hp on an itr. at most it would add about 3, since the itr exhaust is performance tuned already. that's bull****.
Please research this before you call this bull****, the stock itr exhaust happens to have quite a few bottlenecks in it, how do I know....I've tested a few different headers...and yes it did add 20 whp, and 22 ft/lbs of tq. the car also had a VAFC and cam gears to properly tune the car. It is a very fast car, I have seen it, I personally know 5 people with HyTech exhausts and not a single one is unhappy...just trying to make sure everyone has all the information.

So just by bolting the header on to a stock R, you would get a 20 whp and 22ft/lbs gain?

Nope....

Funny thing is....

I got 3-4HP by removing the B-PIPE and Muffler.....is the CAT that bad!??

Austin, reread the original post and you will see why people are claiming bull****... He says they picked up 20 whp and 22 lb/trq. with their exhaust system on a stock ITR. That means that they unbolted the original parts and bolted on the new ones. And from this they DID NOT make those gains. The gains were only realized after tuning with the VAFC and cam gears, and probably advancing the timing and performing a few other tricks to maximize whp. The point is, the claim of the exhaust system yielding 20 whp and 22 lb/trq. IS bull****. Not that their products aren't good, but there are other sytems/combinations out there that with the same tuning procedures will produce comparable results.

Well it was stock before he installed the header...John found that the ECU was dumping large amounts of fuel into the system(A/F around 10-1 at 7000rpm) so the fuel curve needed to be retuned...Marlene has a similar gain, with the header, stock car, stock b-pipe, A'PEXi VAFC, and without the use of the cam gears...

That's fine, but you see my point, right?? John made the claim that they gained 20 whp and 22 lb/trq. on a stock ITR, when in fact they DID NOT. His original post is very misleading, because he clearly states the gains were realized on a stock ITR and makes no mention of tuning the car and installing a VAFC and cam gears. Maybe it was an oversight, but it seems to me like a misrepresentation because of the way he mentioned the gains so matter of factly.
