building up my gsr ! help
As of now i am thinking of constructing my na project together my plans are to get a rough estimate of parts together and from there start saving. Basically I have a stock gsr motor, with 2.5 inch exhaust , itr cams , aem cold air intake. My car runs pretty strong but in reality it has 85,000 miles and i dont want to mod it too much because of fear that it will blow up eventually. I want to reconstruct a block and head with new internals .. Can some one list different set-ups that will help me get into possibly the low or mid 14s.. I am going to get new cams as well. Any suggestions would help thanks a lot .. Looking for a list of detailed parts for maybe an itr or b20 setup what ever route seems better for the price and preformance . thanks a lot for your time
If your sticking w/ your GSR stock motor......
-Get some headwork done. Need to open up the flow of your engine
-Skunk2 Stage 2 cams if you want some good power
-Upgrade your valvetrain (valves, valvesprings, retainers, etc.)
-ITR transmission
(for the gearing and acceleration)
-Top of the line header (Comptech, Toda, Spoon, etc.)
-Skunk2 IM, AEMS (single runner IM)
-High flow cat or test pipe
-2.5" exhaust
-Cam gears (Skunk2, Toda, STR, etc.)
-A tuning device (Hondata, VAFC, etc.)
-Upgrade your ECU at the dyno
other things you could do to dip your times in the 1/4 would be:
-JDM final Drive 4.785
-Definately get an LSD
-Clutch, Flywheel
-Perfect your driving skils
-Take some weight out of the car (spare, tire, seats, p/s, a/c, cruise/rear wiper assembly)
with all this you should hit high 13's in the 1/4 with some good tuning and good driving
As far as the power. You could reach 200whp if you got a great tuner and a strong motor. Check your compression and do a leakdown test (otherwise, 80k on your GSR motor is nothing at all). I wouldn't be worried about a rebuild. There's a bunch of other things you could do aswell. Upgrade your bottom end as well. The sky is the limit if you have cash.

man if your not already running 14's with what you have then you aint got a gsr. go with skunk2 stage 2 cams. thats what i run and they pull like a mother ****** riot. go with skunk2 spirngs and retainers too. if you really want to comliment those cams then go with some ctr pistons. then the ****** will rip. if you do that though you need to make some changes to your fuel pump and injectors, computer and a regulator. its well worht it. basically if you shop right you can make that **** run real low 13's high 12's if tuned right and driven right on slicks for about 2200 bucks. well woth the money when you can smoke pretty much any stock sports car like nothing in a honda
well that inspired me right there.. can u give me a more detailed look at specific parts i would need to achieve those numbers, it would be much appreciated.
And a good thing about GSR's is that the stock motor runs it strongest at around 100,000 miles. Around 150,000 miles is the time you should check your engine to see if it needs a rebuild. So, don't worry about your motor blowing up. If you're going to mod your motor, and build it up, it will run stronger. So chill

yeah, you should already be running 14s. if you're a good driver, you could probably hit a 14.6 right now. maybe 14.5. i have nothing more to say really than what has already been said. with the setup described already, you should be able to hit mid-high 13s i would think.
after you do all that, you def have to tune. tuning will bring it all together. if you don't go with a management system (VAFC, hondata, AEM EMS, etc), atleast get bigger injectors. 310 would be good. 440 might be overkill. with all that extra air running through your motor, you should match the fuel to it. so injectors, fpr, and fuel rail would be a good idea.
itr pistons...PnP ...new valvetrain some more aggresive cams...intake mani...lovely header...and some spoon resevoir covers for some bling
vasili...your car is a high 14's already maybe even mids....if you get some aggresive cams and some tuning youd be low 14's easily

thanks for the advice people ive got a good estimate on what needs to be done.. i just need some more knowledge on porting and polishing im gonna try the archive search ... and hopefully ill get some stuff done soon ill keep you guys poste
