yeah I need to get me one of those. nice. I see two parts in the pics. are there two parts to the upper section of the shield(s), like an inner shield and outer shield or is there just the one upper section ?

am i missing something here? couldn't you just use the heat shield that already comes with your R...or do aftermarket headers protrude out more or something? just wondering why you'd have to buy a new set.

also, suppose you were pulled over by johnny law and he/she suspected you had an illegal header on your car. they'd probably be less inclined to make you take off that *blazin' hot* heat sheild to check it out no?

those fit only the jdm 4-1 headers, thus making it look stock.

 

Must hide the header...

Just got the cat installed...
I will pick up the shield bolts tomorrow at the dealer...

does that mean that this particular jdm heat shield (referring to above) or the usdm heat shield won't necessarily fit a mugen/spoon/etc. header?

this thread is a good one because it will definitely influence what kind of header to get. if i were to buy one...especially for one that wouldn't pass a visual inspection...i would want one that had a compatible heat shield. hence, when johnny law pulls you over...you won't be sweating basketballs hoping he doesn't ask you to pop your hood...

See how the header has the metal tabs in the top and sides of the header? That is where the shield bolts up. I pretty sure that no aftermarket header has those tabs.

Are the jdm heat shields lighter then the oem ones?

 

Heavier... much larger (size wise) than the factory one. The one above is one of 2 pieces. The second piece goes on the bottom of the header.

The factory USDM 2 piece shield is smaller and lighter... but does not cover the ammount of area that the JDM shields do.

clears a lot of stuff up...i don't suppose people have made their own mounts on a non-honda header to allow a heat shield hook up? that would sell pretty well i'd think...just think...you don't have to drive around with a buck naked header...

 

Why are those heat shields on your bed? This whole "love of hondas" is getting out of hand...hehe

Do you guys get the back heat shield? I see the front!

 

I only bought the upper. I believe Willard is going to buy the lower as well, in due time.

 

That is my next mod to my car.......Where did you all perchase your Header and Heat Shields? What Cat are you running? When I come home in a couple of months, I'd love to see it.
