hey guys, my main engine seal (and valve covers for that matter) are leaking oil like crazy, they said to repair it would be about 500 bucks....anybody know how to do this?

 

do you mean the rear main seal?
man, u got to drop the tranny for that one. i did mine when i did my clutch...
changing that seal is nothin, but having to r&r the tranny n flywheel is...
we charge 275 to do a clutch, so 500 is kinda high

 

They have to drop your tranny, take the clutch and flywheel off to get to the rear main seal. You are paying for labor, however shop around you can most likely find somplace that will do it in the 250-300 range.
