Default how many people have alarms, but still get their stuff stolen?

I am looking at getting an alarm, but would like to know how people's stuff still walked off. I'd be pissed if my stuff still got ripped with an alarm in it.

did the car have a shock snsor? proximity sensor? fuel cut-off?

basically, if a thief wants a car, they will take it no matter what you have or dont have on it. you just have to make it hard for them to take it

you shouldn't EVER rely on an alarm to protect your vehicle. think of them as thieft deterant devices. cuz in the end, if they really want it they'll take it. whether be tow, smash and grab, alarm cut..who knows. when there is a will there is a way.

i mean espically this day in ages alot of people don't know how to use their alarms so other people around them just automatically assume that they are experiencing car alarm problems so they don't check. meanwhile its really being broken into, nobody pays attention to car alarms no more. when they go off, people just ignore them.

I aggree, where there is a will there is a way as far a theiving is concerned.

A fuel cutoff is a nice addition if you can swing it...at least they wont get far... unless they have a flatbed with them...

The pager alarms work...but then again..you may just get there in time to see the empty spot where you parked it...might give you a jump on calling it in though..

And then there is LoJack...I used to think this was the best thing you could have since they should be able to recover your car. However, I have heard that the signal will not transmit if the car was taken to a well insulated bldg or warehouse...kind of like XM radio doesnt always work well in the holland tunnel... And I dont know what the response time is on a call like that. You may call the police but by the time they get around to it...your car is in pieces...you'll find the frame (with the LoJack still intact) laying on the street in Queens somewhere...(happenned to my man's integra...nothing but the frame...

JackAcc. pager alarms work....yes......but to a certain extent. they are also limited though. most people who use compustar will tell you that its not good to rely on it because sometimes the signal can't travel that far or it can't penetrate the building that your in. too much electronics can also make the signal screwy as well.
-> fuel cut off will have to be one of the first options after alarm of course.
but the best way to deter a thieft is to keep noticable things in your car, taht way they have to really steal it, and put it on flatbed or along those lines. subs and amps are usually easy cuz they just rip the **** out. -> in otherwords smash and grab. but just never rely on any sense of security. think of them as deterant devices. LoJack i heard about them, but in canada, we have Boomarang. considering getting that installed on both of my vehicles.

A good alarm is the best investment you'll ever make... Granted they're not 100% but anything you can do to make you car, or equiptment in your car, less stealable do it. Try to think like a theif (ex. think about how you can get into the car and eliminate all reasonable possibilities.) Also when it comes to stereo equiptment make it stealth. Don't have highly visible installs, don't play loud music before you park, and don't brag to everyone in the world about your $1000 system.

Bottom line though if someone really wants it, they'll get it, but they don't want what they don't know is there.

Easiest way i know is to but a hidden fuel pump cut off switch in...that takes car of your car...as for stereo's and stuff...bolt down your amp and make it hard to rip out.

this is easily overcome... you know how?? you know that four wire connector on one side of the brain,, that is your power to the entire alarm system if that is cut ,,, your alarm system is complety turn off. and can be used to also now start your car,,remember that ....... which means you need to work on the installation of your alarm system and dont rely on alarm shops to due it correctly.....

several layering of your security system is very important in keep your car. your car....multiple kill switches, clubs, boots, it just depends on how bad you dont want your car stolen,,,,also get a stand alone anti car jack system... that way if your car jacked,,, you will still get your car back,

Just keep your car in your garage and never drive it. Then you won't have to worry about it being stolen.
