Whenever i start my car it makes a REALLY loud screetching noise and stops when i give it a little gas ..... it only does it when the engine is "cold".... I'm guessing it's my belts??? anyone else have this problem?

hmm.... how exactly would i go about doing that? i know i could get in there and tighten them and ****, but how much/little do i tighten them? should i just take it in?
no, its very easy too do. your belt deflection is how far you can move the belt when its on the car. i don't know it off the top of my head but someone with a helms could fill you in. anyway, once you see if its too loose or tight you loosen the bolts on the alternator or power steering pump and move it to get the correct "belt deflection".
