1998 3.0 cl v6 coupe (at) VS. 2000 integra GSR
Basically, these are my two choices for a car. I'm purchasing this weekend.
the facts:
1998 3.0cl v6 coupe in black with clean body w/ spoiler and clean title AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION with 64,000 miles on it plus a full warantee until 100,000 miles and it is certified from an actual acura dealership that is about 5 minutes away, asking price $13,900 but they'll budge.
VS.
2000 Integra GSR in red with clean body w/ spoiler and clean title (manual of course) with 36,000 miles on it and NO warantee, from a random luxury dealership that is about 20 minutes away, asking price is $14,900 and they dont want to budge at all.
I checked out both cars yesterday and I can't decide. The pros for the CL are that its certified, has a warantee, and it'll turn out to be about $2,000 cheaper. Also, I won't be hassled by cops. The cons are that it has an automatic tranny and i dont like the headlights much but i love the rest of the car.
The pros for the GSR are obvious. The cons= a few scratches here and there, and there is no warantee and its an eye-catching red that will get me speeding tickets for sure.
I've been looking for a car for the past 3 months and I keep getting f'd over. Last week I found a real clean '99 lude in black stick with low miles from a dealer for 15 but they sprung a salavaged title on me like they didnt know. the list goes on like that. I WANT A CAR THIS WEEKEND. I need your opinons and ideas. Thanks

It's all a matter of preference. If you want a luxury car that you can cruise with lots of low end and mid range power, then grab the 3.0CL. If you want a sports car with huge aftermarket potential, then grab the GSR. The price on the GSR is pretty steep. I bet you can find a better deal if you look around more.
Why don't you buy from a private seller instead of from dealers? It will be cheaper by far, and since you are considering the gs-r without a warranty i'd assume u care about having a warranty so there is no reason to pay more at a dealer. Go with the car in between the cl and gsr, get a 5th gen lude. You tried to get one before so keep looking, check the paper daily. Buy from a private seller. In my opinion you can't really settle on something that is such a big purchase like a car.

the reason i can only buy from a dealer is because i can only finance through a dealership. thats why i like that gsr so much. but they are asking a little more than i'd like... on a side note i'd love to get a clean 98 civic cx hatch and build the engine. i love how they look, and i'd save money, but i lack the know-how.
Keep looking until you KNOW its "the one". Buy from a private party. You get more for less. Plus people aren't as slimy as dealers. Autotrader.com >> good luck!
