aem alternator pulley problems??
does any one know about how much the voltage will drop when you switch to one of these?
i have one on my b16,seems i get real low voltage and my battery always dies on me.
any one got any actual info on this?

I don't think anyone here has enough info on the stock alternators to give you that answer. This will depend on your idle setting and your average driving speed. I would get rid of it if you are having problems though.
I just got an Unorthodox alt pulley installed myself, and had a similar worry.
Did you install a cap for the stereo? I've only got a 200w amp for the speakers and a 150w amp for an 8" sub, so not sure if it's worth it on my system.
Not trying to hijack your thread, but seems like we've got similar concerns.

When I did my swap last summer, I installed AEM power pullies on the PS pump and alternator. I noticed an immediate voltage drop when I got the car back. Drove it all summer and winter, and had problems with charging and dimming of dome lights etc. I attribute the problems to the pulley being too large. I don't think it frees up enough HP to justify the problems. I'm in mid-build right now, and when everything goes back together, the AEM is coming off and the stock alternator pulley is going back on.
You need to get an Ohio Generator Alternator if your going to play with underdrive pulleys since they are design for performance enhancement not stereo enhancement. Back in the day, when I had my mustang with underdrive pulleys, I had to change my alternator every three to six months due to not charging the electrical system while driving.

I would suggest putting stock pulleys back on the stock alt. Why spend more money? Power does not come for free. An under drive pulley on a rewound alternator will consume the same hp, to make the amperage. And IMO, underdrive on the alternator is never worth it.
