Default Don't get excited yet, but the AEBS intake is installed.

I got my AEBS "Typhoon" intake manifold yesterday, so I installed it today. Vehicle is a 2001 ITR with Skunk2 Stage 2 cams, JDM header and AEM CAI. The intake manifold is definitely not as clean or refined as the stock intake manifold, but it bolts up nicely. Couple of things I noticed: the threads for the throttle body and fuel rail were not tapped very well. I had to clean up the threads a little. The surface of the IM where the throttle body bolts was a little rough, had a couple of minor dings or scratches in the aluminum, so that had to be smoothed out. The old intake manifold gasket came out in one piece with the manifold, which was nice. As far as driving impressions, I can not really tell the difference. The "butt dyno" is not telling me anything. Going to dyno at Church Automotive in about a week and a half (vehicle was tuned there in early August-so there will be a good baseline to compare to), so we will have another dyno to look at and dissect. Here are a couple of pics:

More info when it becomes available...

I did not take any pics of the inside, but Ryan 126 posted pics here:

I am very interested to see what the numbers do.

Yes, I did notice too that the threads were not tapped very well. I had a hard time at first threading in the studs for the throttle body and the throttle cable bracket as well. But overall the install was pretty easy. Hope your results are good too.

Slightly longer runners producing slightly better midrange but sacrificing a bit of top end. Also, the plenum itself is A LOT bigger internally, much more volume inside. The ports are bigger as well. The manifold itself doesn't look that pretty, but if I had the choice of looking pretty or 5 hp, I'll take the 5 hp.

Does the Throttle Body sit in the same position as on an Type-r intake manifold?

The throttle body looks to be pretty close to the original postion. Did not have to move the CAI, so it's gotta be close.

is the AEBS manifold a bolt on and go product? from looking at the ink above. I saw this post stating he has no connection for the EVAP hose? Can anyone show pics on how they hook the Evap hose. This manifold looks really good, I dont care about looks aslong it does it job

thanx

It is a bolt on product. As for the Evap you have to 'T' it into the pcv/brake booster.

well of course word to that, i was just wondering what makes the power on IM's...so since my JG IM has a frickin HUGE plenum compared to alot of manifolds out there, does that mean its gonna create alot more power?

We need to see how this manifold do on a built motor.

If this thing works on my 'R', I will buy another one and put it on my "built" motor and do some more testing. My other motor is an 85mm bore 13.5:1 ++ compression engine with Toda 'D's.
