Adjusting Valves... Raspy noises...???
yea... today i pulled up next to my friends house and he was commenting on how badly my car sounds and that i needed to get my valves adjusted... according to him its a "pinging sound, kinda like a diesal car" and it does kinda have a raspy nasty idle sound... that i dont hear while im driving...

you need a feeler gauge set and some wrenches/screw drivers. its pretty easy to DIY. you MIGHT have to change your valve cover gasket though, they are rubber and can break upon removal, but if you keep it intact it will still work. The gasket kits for the valve cover are like $40.
Eery time I open my valve cover I just put some silicone on outside with the gasket for a better seal.
you dont need to buy a new seal every time just make sure the seal is good

if you have never done a valve adjustment before then there is in detail instructions on c-speedracing.com.
you should definately get the valve adjustment though. makes a world of a difference with your car. its definately expensive with the dealer, but your also getting top of the line work. if you have a friend that does work on cars then ask him to help you out and teach you.

It's pretty difficult w/ a bent wrench and screwdriver. The correct tool makes it much easier. I have the one from Harbor Freight, back when they used to sell them. My friend and I adjusted the valves on both our cars Saturday. He worked the feeler guage while I worked the adjusting tool, only took about 45 minutes on each car.
