skunk2 type-s details
ok, everyone listen up. i stopped by group-a in hayward yesterday, saw the car and talked to dave hsu, owner. they did my head in may '97 so we go way back. i was one of the very first cars on their dyno but anyways...
i told dave there was a heated debate on the internet about his type-s and whether or not it was stock. by my calculations, assuming a 15% loss the car should be around 170ish. i've heard about some cars dynoing low 160s which actually seems low to me (maybe not broken in?).
ok, here are direct quotes from dave:
the car is a "car magazine test car"
it's a "pre-production model"
it came "direct from honda"
this is not a type-r motor.
another source close to group-a tells me that this run was "with the filter box removed" meaning with the stock filter attached either filter exposed or piping/resonator removed. this info is not from dave so take it fwiw.
in closing dave said, "hope this clears up any confusion"
so y'all can just argue for days back and forth amongst yourselves or simply pick up the damn phone and bother them or stop by.
