Custom eletric Fuel pressure gauge HOW-TO:
I posted this before, but now I have pics.
Basically, if you haven't noticed the autometer eletric fuel pressure gauge is like $200+ including the isolator. Since I already had the oil pressure gauge and an extra pressure sender, I decided to retrofit the oil pressure sender to the fuel lines. just fyi, you can get the oil pressure sender from Summit for only $20. What I did was take the bolt that goes on top of the fuel filter, drilled it out and tapped threads into it. then I put a 90 degree elbow in it because I was worried about hood clearances (the 3g tegs have the filter way way and crooked). The threading worked, but with 50+ psi of fuel, I didn't want any chance of leaking, so I used JB weld as well as the threads to make a rock solid seal. (I didn't JB weld the sender, but just the bolt and the elbow. After that, I just wired the sender to a switch and connected that to my oil pressure gauge (it reads on the same scale because the sender and the gauge are ment to work together). Now I can just toggle between oil pressure and fuel pressure from within my car. I find this useful, especially if you think you are having fuel pump/regulator issues, you can see what happens dynamically as you drive. pics below:

and here is the MSD rpm activated switch that pulls the Nitrous at 8K (someone asked to see it):

and since I'm being a post ***** with the pics, no trip is complete without my favorite soundtrack:

and yes, I acutally like the soundtrack and the movie.

This is my email to Autometer, and their response:

Question:
What is the difference between an electric oil pressure sender and an
electric fuel pressue sender?
Is the fuel presure sender designed with safeguards against sparks? Or
is the Oil presure sender capable of sparking? I have seen a person
install an oil pressure sender as a fuel pressure sender, are they in
danger of igniting the fuel? (Possibly with an eletric surge through the
gauge?)
Curious and Concearned,
Karl Erickson

Sir,
The diaphragm in the oil pressure is not designed to tolerate fuel, and
may potentially fail over time. You should ONLY use the FP senders with
the FP guages.

yeah, I figured it'd be something with the seals. The only thing is, that it is totally sealed from the out side, so if it ever failed, it'd just mess up the readings; ie, you could tell instantly and buy another $20 sender. There is only one oriface (sp?) on the outside and that is the entry hole.
Thanks for the info. -C

Yeah, like I said above, it is a closed container, so even if the seals were gone, the worse that would happen in the gauge wouldn't work.
It doesn't matter anyway, I got a new car.......details soon.......
