Adding O2 sensor to non-O2 car
Hello everyone.
I'm looking to add an o2 sensor to my car (which has no CAT or o2 sensor) to enable me to use a Zdyne ECU.
Looking at the Helms manual wiring diagram, page 670 to be exact it looks like a simple job to run a wire from the o2 sensor right to pin 16 on the ECU plug.
However, about halfway along the wire, just after plug C210, it looks like the o2 connects to 5 other wires? Is this correct or am I just reading the wiring diagram all wrong?
The car has a PP4 ECU, no CAT or O2, but the wiring is just the same, bar having no wire for o2.
Your help would be much appreciated!
Thanks!
Alex

As long as you are instaling a one wire O2 sensor, just wire it directly to the ECU.
Also, install it close to the head, no farther away than 12 inches, give or take a few.
the One wire O2 is a non heated sensor, and it doesn't work right way down the exhaust pipe.

That's great thanks man. I was gonna get it installed it quite far back (relatively speaking, under the Oil pan or something) but I'll say to my exhaust guy to weld it as close to the head as possible - I was thinking just after the Exh Mani? (My manifold has no plug for an O2) It is only a 1 wire sensor.
This has totally laid my mind at rest, I'll let you guys know how it all goes.

Just to let you know, I got the O2 on today, couldn't put it any closer than the collector for the downpipe so it would get a fair reading of the mixture, quite a bit down the exhaust.
Guy that did it assured me it'll be ok & will work fine & I do know of cars that have it fairly far back (not Honda's though). I'll give him the benefit of the doubt just now, drove it a lot today & no CEL so looks good!
I did get a CEL before I fitted it, after running the car for a short while, so my ECU's working ok too.
All in all, result!
Thanks for all the advice!

everyone with 1st gen b16's mentions of one o2 sensor now if im not mistaken 1st gen b16's have 2 o2 sensors with one wire on each correct? now are those 2 sensors suppose to function the same or is one for a different function?

Don't quote me on this, but I think 1 is before the CAT & 1 after. The ECU compares readings to make sure the CAT is working ok. If the readings are the same (and the CAT isn't working) I guess it would throw a CEL?
I have a D16 engine, so don't have this problem.

That is only for OBD2
The first gen B16 uses 2 O2 sensors at the exhaust manifold.
