Forget the S2K, I'd sell my R for this...
Hopefully the rumors will come true and TVR will start selling their cars in the USA.
Let's see...
-Funky *** totally original styling? Check.
-2,200lb Curb Weight? Check.
-RWD? Check.
-Straight 6 engine? Check.
-350 freakin' horsepower? Check.
'nuff said.
Price is £36,000. Consider that the Type-R is £20,000. This thing wouldn't cost *that* much more than an S2k, and around Porsche Boxster level. For near supercar performance. Damn. And you sure as hell wouldn't see yourself coming and going.

very sweet
There use to be a TVR dealer out in Rockville, MD about 10 or so years ago!
So it might be possible they will sell again in the states - someday!

Brit trash? Geez, mayhaps you should drive one before making such sweeping statements. I've never been in one myself, but all the reviews I've read of their cars have been very positive. They are total drivers cars (no silly electronic aids), even moreso than our beloved ITR.
Well, let's see, the TVR is a British car, which means their market gets it cheaper, but for ***** and giggles sake, let's just say a 16,000 pound difference .... well at the current exchange rate, that is an additional $23,000 .....
Hmmm, could buy two R's for the price of one of these ..... or for $48,000 you can get buckets of other cars. I'd take a Z06 over it anyday for that kind of money.
Just MO.

this isn't the care from Swordfish. That was the Tuscan, this is the Tamora. It's all new, smaller and cheaper than the Tuscan (but uses the engine and much of the chassis).
True afficionados will appreciate the car for what it's worth. Britian has long been admired for creating the true sport roadster, from the MG's to the current Lotus Elise. Hopefully this is a model North America will be recieving.
I know of many ppl in England who have driven the Lotus Elise; and from what EVO, Car, and Top Gear magazine say, this TVR should be a hit...

Not trying to be a dick, but I always have and always will hate British cars. They just don't convince me. My old boss became rich by sucking the blood out of white haired, Bently driving old men that spent endless amounts of cash keepin those luxury hotels on the road. So given the fact that maintenance on a 10 yr old Bentley is more than the upkeep on a mansion. I have no respect for the Brits cars. Lest we forget 80's Jaguars?
McLaren F1 is British as well. I'd hope you have some repsect for that.
And TVR's are loved the world over as being a driver's car, so I'd give it a chance before knocking it. There is a huge difference between the Bently and a TVR.
However, last time I read, build quality was still very bad, as was reliability. On on car, they could see where the silicone used to seal the window had been smeared even using a finger. The cars are completely hand built tho so I guess that's why...

Heh-heh, I have ridden in a 420hp Cerbera. I met this one guy is South San Francisco who imported one, probably the only late-model TVR in the states other than the one brought in to shoot Swordfish. Eggplant Metallic, 4.5, license 'BU9ROF' - I rode on the left side!
These cars are pretty much AS FAST AS IT GETS. There are very few cars with more acceleration power. Let's see, a Mac F1, a Bugatti EB110, maybe a Ferarri F40 on a good day? Other than cars like that, there is nothing faster. 0-60 in 3.7-3.9, tested. The Zo6 never got tested under 4 seconds. Diablos are around 4 seconds. Maybe a sportsbike...
These cars are PURE SPORTSCARS. 2 seats, or 2+2 with the Cerbie or Tuscan, RWD, monster torque, monster hp. Only the Cerbera is a permanent hardtop. These cars cost less than Boxsters but are better-looking, MUCH faster, much better detailing, truly beautiful unique interiors, unique design touches (there were no door handles on the Cerbie, you pressed a button hidden under the side mirror, the door popped open).
I heard that TVR would have a hell of a time getting these into the states, as they are a small British company and to set up the infrastucture to support these cars through dealers, service, legal, etc. would be too much.
If they brought them though, that would be insane....

I got this from TVR today:
Oh, those dials do have numbers on them, they are just very minimalistic. And those three little dots on the Tach (right side dial) are shift lights (green, yellow, red). Neat.
We are very seriously exploring how we might return to the United States right now and are currently talking to the authorities about certification as well as potential importers and dealers across the whole of America. However, these things take time and so we would ask that you please bear with us.
I had read something in C/D or R/T that said TVR were seriously considering a move back here, and it had something to do with opening a plant in South America.
