Default Vehicle Speed Sensor symptoms

Anyone ever done say, a clutch job, left the speed sensor unhooked/broke it (92 integras use a cable) and driven 20 miles on the freeway? The car tried to STOP itself in the middle of the damn freeway at 75 MPH!!! I had to pull off 3-4 times and reset the ECU just to get home. How the hell is it stopping my car? I know a full rich environment is going to feel weird...but literally stop my car? What the hell?

Can anyone explain this? Thanks

Oh, and the upside: I now have a 6 puck clutch that can chirp 4th (no, not at 110 mph)

well i have a b16a and a jdm b16a tranny in my 90 integra..... but.... it should be the same vss.......

anyway.... uh.... u can drive w/o the vss for years if u want..... i had to drive like that for about 1 month actually cuz mine broke wher eit bolts down and i couldn't get it to stay in......

it WAS hook'd up.... speed cable..... power steering lines..... only thing was it didn't sit all the way in the tranny........

anyway...... it throws code 17 on ur ecu......

it NO way can stop ur car..... u must have done something with ur clutch install or something......

I don't think you're going to like what you hear, Dravis, but a VSS left unhooked will absolutely NOT make your car run that bad. If you've got a VTEC computer, VTEC won't engage. Your speedometer won't work. Other than that, the car will run fine.

Sounds like you've got other problems to me.

And you are very right. Looks like the coil went apeshit. Cars on the side of the road. Time to pull the plugs, check for spark...if I get nothing...

grrrr
